Based in Bristol, Ekto a.k.a. @erst-dj is a producer & DJ that takes the sounds of 90s rave and hardcore and twists them into new shapes - his productions can take influence from anything from the dubbed out grooves of bleep techno to full throttle jungle breakbeat chaos. In collaboration with @hartta, “The Happy Hardcore Hit of the Summer” takes the euphoric fairground stabs and diva vocals of happy hardcore, and sends them in a darker direction.

Ossie brings the heat again for 2016 with a new EP ‘In A House’ and new label ‘SuperCali’.

Having already amassed an impressive repertoire and catalog of releases with 20/20 Midnight Visions, Hyperdub, Lightworks and Wolf Music, Ossie’s last two offerings came by way of MTA Records; underground anthem ‘Cape Town Is Calling’ and the hypnotic B-Side ‘Alva Flex’, followed with his self-titled ‘Ossie EP’ - featuring the radio smash ‘I’m Not The One’.

His works have been championed by the likes of Benji B, Gilles Peterson, Annie Mac, Mistajam and Toddla T. Now, with the launch of his own label SuperCali, Ossie has full license to release more of his trademark sounds that have captured hearts and transformed dance floors around the world.

SuperCali kicks off with first release and our Debut Transmission for today ‘In A House’, the 3-track EP is an energetic burst of hard hitting drums, crisp snares, booming bass lines and fluttering synths that respectfully nod in the direction of nostalgic House, Electro and Funk - and features an infectious remix from long-term collaborator PHRH.

Italian pairing Ruff Stuff have been living quite a charmed existence of late. Known individually as Nanni & Francois, this house-loving pair have rocked up on a host of well-renowned labels, including Quality Vibe, Neovinyl, Berlin Bass Collective, and King Street Sounds. However, it’s their work on their own label, the aptly names Ruff Stuff Music Ltd, for which they’re arguably best renowned. Their latest release, the sixth on the label, is arguably one of their best yet. Channeling classic house vibes throughout and calling on a remix from British man-of-the-moment Harrison BDP, it’s an intoxicating listen that keeps the listener n their toes throughout.

Kicking off the release is the sounds of ‘Ain’t No Buddy’. The sort of up-tempo jam that would make Kerri Chandler blush, this one bares all the hallmarks of a classic Strictly or Nu Groove jam. Feeling a wailing diva vocal at its core, this is trippy house of the sort that’s most definitely been made for the dancefloor. Absolutely spellbinding stuff.

The A side is then rounded off courtesy of another original, ‘Last Chance’. The boys cleverly keep the energy intact on this one, with another banging track that follows a similar framework to what’s arrived before. Another high energy cut with a raucous baseline, this one too is sure to elicit complete pandemonium on the dancefloor. The aforementioned Harrison BDP then gets the B side underway via a remix that’s a far cry from the original. More restrained and atmospheric than its predecessor, it serves up a neat interpretation that nicely compliments the merits of the original.

Closing off the bumper package is the sounds of Ruff Stuff’s ‘BrainTrust’. As is often the case, the B2 here is an absolute weapon - and one that’s sure to win the boys plaudits aplenty. A refined, timeless-sounding gem, ‘BrainTrust’ has ‘class’ etched firmly on its side. A stunning array of tracks that showcase just what this duo is about, the label’s sixth release is definitely one worth savouring.

Just put the needle on, push play and dance!

Next up on London based Everybody In we have a 4 tracker from Belgium born Aemone. Stylistically this lo-fi EP has its roots firmly in the classic deep house but with a modern twist. Aemone's crafty sampling of obscure jazz, 90s rave and other sources has an astuteness which is rarely heard outside of the masters.

This vibe filled record is all about a dirty sampled sound, juxtaposed with a dance floor focus, from the rolling and dreamy Hold You to the quirky and non-standard kilter of Purple Sun and sampled creaminess of Rise, all the way to the 90's melter that is Take Your Time.

This is one of those EP's where the artist shows you a few of their different faces, all equalling more than the sum of the parts. This record features artwork by the 3D Italian artist Mauro Casalino and drops the 5th of June on Everybody In.
