The red sun sinks heavily behind the hills as the long days grow short and the evening shadows grow longer. Summertime seems distant now, a season of yesterday. Showered by the tangerine leaves of ancient trees and the whisper of the autumn breeze. The world is orange and crisp now, welcoming the harvest era and the beginnings of a new chapter.

Chapter 11, a story split in tandem following the tales of two fresh faces unseen and new. The first tale is told by Duncan Thomas, a classically trained jazz maven infiltrating the electronic music world with untapped finesse and a provocative flare. Showcasing a style of impeccable taste and analogue intricacies, his track ‘Dizzy’ sets the tone, leading the dance that will follow.

His contemporary is the equally eager Argentinian ace, Luciano Amaya. A stripped-back enigma of class and carefully chosen elements. His music feels fresh, surgeon-like and selective, with no sound out of place or unwanted space. He channels a more mystical sentiment, alluring and curious.

Two journeys, worlds apart, connected through corresponding quarter notes and a connection to the music that bonds them. Welcome to the eleventh edition. The master number of make believe, a world of kaleidoscopic colours and fallen leaves.

After a busy eighteen months promoting his debut album, Essex-hailer Max Chapman brings us his La Fiesta EP on Hot Creations. The title track features alongside remixes by the versatile Luca Cazal and house veteran Todd Terry.

With Latin vibes from the outset, Max has encompassed the essence of The White Isle. La Fiesta is a  migration of percussion, chanting and melodic vocals and flirtatious basslines. Luca Cazal has turned up the kick and brings an old school vibe with his remix. Todd Terry’s energetic arrangement of snares and bongos compliments the provencal vocal perfectly.

Since his arrival on the scene six years ago, Max Chapman has released on an abundance of labels including VIVa, Toolroom and last years Body Jack on Elrow, that achieved number one status across all genres on Beatport. Established in 2012, his imprint Resonance Records provides a platform for the freshest talent in underground tech-house. Max’s album Catch Me If You Can, released last year, received a notable 9/10 in both Mixmag and DJ Mag.

Luca Cazal has been steadily rising up the ranks since his debut release on Crosstown Rebels in 2013. Constantly refining his production skills, Luca transmits positive emotions with every track he releases. After three decades on the scene, Grammy-nominated Legend Todd Terry has continued to release  superior productions and entertain crowds worldwide.

Riding high off the back of his much-lauded Second Mood EP on Diversions Music at the beginning of March, French maestro OXIA now teams up with Italian duo Artslaves for an unrelenting follow up package and his second stellar release of 2019. Due for release on May 3 via Deeperfect Records, the two-track For Real Extended Player sees OXIA team up with the Moan Recordings label bosses across both original offerings, in what is a truly formidable debut collaboration between the three in-form producers. A brooding roller complete with mind-bending synths and warped vocal chops, the title track gets the EP off to a mesmerising start its layers and textures twisting and amalgamating in perfect symbiosis across the tracks six-minute duration. On the flip, Over places crisp drums and an undulating bassline front and centre, adding delayed spoken-word samples and a marathon second drop to close out the EP in emphatic fashion. The release comes just three days before OXIAs remix of John Digweed &amp; Nick Muirs iconic track Satellite, which is due for release on May 6 via Bedrock Records. Italian native Fabio Neural teams up with growing Columbian talent DJ Fronter on the ​Brr Baby Brr EP​. Soon to be released on Hot Creations, the three track release is a contemporary house affair that shows the natural chemistry between the two.
“We decided to point to something big, such as Hot Creations. We worked hard and put all our ideas and energies in to achieve our goal, with Brr Baby Brr being the main track of the EP.” ​Fabio Neural and DJ Fronter.
Leading with ​Brr Baby Brr​, a driving kick is soon complemented by whistling hats, before a teasing synth build up gives way to a pummelling bass driven drop. ​Silver Star comes in next with a reverberating vocal sample that’s underlined by a subtly changing bassline and warm, building pads, before ​Downtown rounds off the EP with a harder techno tone as punchy lead kicks meld with choppy, non-apologetic keys.
Having produced music since 2010, it was last year that Fabio Neural really caught the ground running with releases on two of modern house music’s leading labels: Relief and Saved. This year has been followed up with ​Brr Baby Brr​, his standout release of 2019 and his first release on Hot Creations. ​DJ Fronter is one of Columbia’s most prominent artists. Having previously performed for the Resistance party brand his DJ sets speak for themselves, whilst his knack for producing has seen him release on labels like Circus and Nervous.
