Hailing from Berlin, music has always been a priority in Holger Zilske and Kai Preussner’s lives as anyone who has been fortunate enough to witnesses them rocking the stage can attest. Thus it is with great excitement that we welcome the illustrious duo to our mix of the day series as they shift through the gears to deliver a fresh set of cuts for us to wrap our ears around.

Mixed in celebration of the release of their new single ‘Surreal Love’ on highly regarded Swiss imprint Hive Audio, their hour long set of selections have had us thawing out those boogying muscles as we dance around the office and now you can join in the fun. Check out their exclusive mix now.

Richard Rogers is the man behind the shadowy Black Booby re-edits that have been slaying dancefloors all over clubland for the last few years. Until now he’s been content to remain in the background, but that’s all set to change with the recent vinyl-only release of Black Booby 07, which features some choice cuts of raw house gold, ‘1015’ and ‘Dr Roland’, from none other than Chi-town house hero Gene Hunt (a protégé of Ron Hardy, no less), along with a 90s ghetto house homage ‘Play House’ from Terry Farley (one of our own acid house heroes) and fellow production stalwart Stuart ‘Stretch’ Silvester, plus Chicago’s K’Alexi Shelby getting deep on a K Klassik remix. It’s fair to say that Rich knows how to pick em… 

But his collection of cool collaborators aside, Rogers is fundamentally a London music head – first, last and everything in-between. A regular on the capital’s most underground dancefloors for over two decades, from On-U-Sound parties in his mid-teens and hanging out at Drum Club while still at school, to the likes of Secretsundaze, Big Wave and Thunder today, Rogers has always bought vinyl (and later, kit), with this mix showcasing not simply the vinyl-only re-edits that have made him (in)famous, but a wider selection of his electronic passions of late.

Most people would have highlighted their new track on a mix like this, but that’s too easy for Rogers. It didn’t fit so it wasn’t in - simple. That’s the exacting approach that’s seen him work with respected heads like Gene Hunt, Roach Motel (aka Terry Farley & Pete Heller) and Dave Jarvis (Faith / Moton) and got early BBs like 01 rinsed by Ashley Beedle, 02 by Moodymann and got BB04 with Gene Hunt onto Tama Sumo’s FACT 403 mix. That same approach should see him making noise with his forthcoming BB releases – June sees BB08’s ‘Disco Not Disco Affair’ take the project back to its Moton-esque disco re-edit roots, then a special 7” BB09’s ‘Joe’s Theme’ takes seminal Sega arcade game ‘Shinobi’  as its inspiration and in July/ August, BB10’s ‘Sylvester Edition’ will be an homage to one of disco’s campest heroes and one of BB’s biggest inspirations – the mighty Sylvester.

Meanwhile though, check out this Black Booby mix, which is, ‘…more on the gritty Detroit house/techno sound-design side of things; I thought that would be more beneficial to readers of DT. Plus it paints me more in the light I want to be in, rather than a mix full of bloody edits!’ Well, it’s certainly not that but we do think it’s pretty special. Enjoy!

Ahead of i-D Mix's slope-side party in the Austrian mountains of Mayrhofen at Snowbombing 2015, we are treated to a warm up in the form of two huge exclusive mixes, the first of which comes from Finish producer and Moodmusic label owner Sasse. Preparing to throw down in an exclusive b2b mountainside set with the legendary Anja Schnieder, Sasse steps up with a superb 60 minute mix of deep house, techno and Italo disco. If you can’t make it to the mountains, this is the next best thing!
