23 years ago the KLF announced they were leaving the music business. They deleted their back catalogue and burned £1m on a remote island in Scotland. This mixumentary tells their story; a strange and often chaotic tale traversing hip hop, gospel, trance, techno, ambient, house and pop amongst other things. It is my tribute to the band that produced the first single I ever bought, a tribute to a band that, despite becoming the largest selling singles act in the world, remain largely forgotten.

For this week spotlight mix we are feeling massively angular but not a little big square any shape or form as we welcome the Cubed DJs to the fold.

With Cubism is not a homogeneous art movement but, rather a collection of extremely differing movements and directions, all of which have undergone metamorphoses during their own development as so have the Cubed Folk.  Running regular nights in Reading & London and also hosting a overseas takeovers at Snowboxx 2016 with Miguel Campbell headlining. 

This weekend, Cubed once again curate a stage at Bugged Out Weekender with sets from Jonas Rathsman, Jack Savidge (Friendly Fires), Kiwi, Ashworth & many more. Cubed DJs are co-founders & residents Pete Wheeler & Chris Wells. The duo's mix for Data Transmission is their take on a night at Bugged Out Weekender, building quickly from filtered disco into house & techno before a hands in the air finale for the moment when the lights come up and the 7am survivors make their way towards secret chalet parties.
