Jeremy Glenn continues on his quest to go deeper in this 4 track EP for Quintessentials. The title track, “Wait for The Night” is anchored by a pulsing organ bass line, complimented by dark, pitched down vocals, simple lead lines and the occasional falsetto from Glenn. On the b-side, Glenn moves more into classic house territory with “Jump The Fire”. A more complete vocal track, “Jump The Fire” explores life, death, truth and falsehood, culminating in a pounding chorus complete with Glenn's signature R&B vocal style. To complete the package, J. Wiltshire (Hypercolour) remixes “Jump The Fire” and takes it straight to the club, using little of the original vocal but carrying just as much weight. The final track from Glenn, “Loving You” is a more down-tempo disco-house groove more in tune with Glenn's earlier nu-disco work.

It's safe to say that if the mighty Scuba trusts you to run his label, then you're probably doing something right, and in the case of Jack Haighton there's no disputing that whatsoever.

Not only is the Berlin-based Haighton managing Hotflush, but he also regularly releases through the label. His quarterly EP series, Editions Haighton, sees the producer re-edit golden oldies dug from the crates.

As if all that didn't keep him busy enough, Haighton can also regularly be found showing off his skills behind the wheels of steel. And he'll be doing just that on March 28th, joining Scuba, Dense & Pika and Ostgut Ton and Sandwell District favourite, Function, for the launch of new Hotflush club night, REFLEXION, at London's hottest new venue, The Steelyard. The gig will be the label's first in the capital for 12 months - not one to miss!

In the meantime however, Haighton has put together a tasty collection of irresistible, disco-infused grooves. The mix features tracks from the likes of DJ Shanté and Love Quartet, plus there's a couple of Editions Haighton cuts and even a MAW edit of Madonna thrown in for good measure.

Spotlight Mix: Jack Haighton

Across a string of well received records on Seth Troxler's Play It Say It, 20/20 Vision and Moan Recordings, The Mekanism has honed a refreshingly uninhibited sound - one that pops with joyful expression and works to serve the sort of free-flowing parties he regularly plays across the US and Mexico.

Here, he delivers his trademark sound with 'Do The Disco' - a rapturous cut that features percussion from Grammy Award-winning percussionist Jorge Bezerra and an alt sax replaying of 'Do It At The Disco' by Gary's Gang by Tom Barford with a gracious nod from Nervous and Uni Disc.

The taught skins of Bezerra's drums rattle out of the blocks and get things off to an electrifying start. Pattered into dexterous of polyrhythms, they carry that certain energy that drives a marrow-deep motivation to move while a straight 4/4 kick maintains a solid boom throughout.

Jorge Bezerra is a Grammy Award-winning Musician and Percussionist who has worked alongside many great artists throughout his career, notably on Ludovic Navarre’s St Germain project, on stage with the wonderful Melody Gardot and as an integral member of the Joe Zawinul Syndicate that allowed him to share the stage with other greats, such as Herbie Hancock, Bebel Gilberto, Hitonari Tsuji, Cheick Tidiane and Bobby McFerrin. 

Barford's sax is steadily filtered in while a bossy bass line walks up and down and the mood begins to bubble. Drums, sax and bass take turns to grab centre stage and the resultant vibe is feverish, balmy and jammed full of fun.
