We are back with our annual various artist compilation. This time we welcome 13 talented artists which differ in style but who all hold the key component to create sonic bliss. In this journey we take you through a mostly dance-floor oriented spectrum of our sound. The underground aspect is held high here in combination with the urgent need to experiment with sound. Holding on to this red line we are thrilled to present to you a mash up of moods all high on vibes!

A key component to the track follow order on each of our VA’s is the idea of a homogenous flow. This idea leans on our childhood memories of a natural album flow so many of our heroes provided. To say the Minneapolis born and based Freddy Fresh has history is a somewhat understatement.  His first studio recording was released on Boogie Down Productions, with Fresh remixing a track for 'The Man & His Music Dedication' album for Scott La Rock & KRS-One, and he has since recorded for over 100 independent record labels, including major labels Sony UK, Virgin, BMG UK and Harthouse Germany and is also founder of the record labels Howlin' Records, Electric Music Foundation, Analog and Sockett.  

Freddy Fresh returns with the multi-dimensional, genre-defying album '35 Years of Music'. This man simply can't be tied to one style for too long and his appetite to try new forms means this album takes on electro, drum 'n' bass, hip-hop, house, downtempo and IDM within 17 expansive tracks. 
Cool, chilled and melodic with a hint of carefree whimsy whereas the equally chilled 'One For Arianna' finds Fred in a more contemplative and thoughtful mood as the machines take yet another direction.

Desolation Colony materialized in the summer of 2019 in the brutal New Orleans heat.

While on tour in Europe with Azar Swan, Joshua Strachan became equally inspired by the writing of Jeff VanderMeer and the spaces and sound systems of the venues Azar Swan was playing.

After sketching several pieces of music, he invited fellow Wierd Records alum Justin Vial (Kindest Lines) to contribute additional elements, and enlisted longtime collaborator Kris Lapke (Alberich, Prurient) to mix.

The project name is taken from one of the most well-known passages in the novel "Annihilation," a work which Strachan describes as "deeply impactful in terms of how it casts certain kinds of ecological philosophy in poetic terms."

Glad to cite the apocalyptic environmental death disco of early Skinny Puppy as an influence, Strachan also points to various power electronics and black metal artists as inspirations.

"There's this thread in 'Annihilation' about sort of letting go of the human as the human has been conceived thus far, and black metal is really the music that I think has most dwelled on that idea, so it seemed an appropriate ingredient to include. But it's also supposed to sound massive in clubs."
