Once there was a small sapling, barely more than a twig, hidden away in a forgotten corner of the forest. For years, the little sapling was ignored, until one day, a ray of sunlight broke through the canopy and illuminated the tiny plant. With the sun's energy, the sapling began to grow, slowly but surely.
As the sapling got bigger, it started to attract attention from the other plants in the forest. The sapling was admired for its determination and hard work. The other plants started to root for it, providing it with extra nutrients and support.
Years passed, and the sapling became a beautiful tree. It was strong and sturdy, and its branches spread wide, providing shade and shelter to the other plants in the forest. The other plants had been there when it was just a sapling, and now they were proud to be standing in the shade of such a majestic tree.
The tree was a symbol of hope for the forest, a reminder that anything is possible with enough dedication and hard work. The tree was a source of inspiration for the other plants, reminding them to never give up in the face of adversity, no matter how difficult the journey may be. 
The tree had come a long way, and it was a reminder to all in the forest that no matter how small and insignificant one might feel, with enough determination and courage, anything is possible.

Deepest azure oceans crossover into "Cerulean Sky"; shades of blue combine, blending together into a stratosphere that envelops the planet for "We Are All Astronauts". The soft beats and static crackle of radio frequencies sit atop lilting percussive cadence before emotive melodies resonate in pulsating synchronicity with low-end bass. Energy rises in imperceptible increments, pausing for piano to swim in deep space reverb before launching forwards once more in relentless glory.

Sunrise and Sunset form a delicious juxtaposition as the vibrancy and excitement of a new dawn gives way to the outward breath of day's end and sweet vocals swirl ahead, echoing themes of love. The earth's troposphere providing orange glow from above, hints at storms to come.

Dutch master, Nick Hogendoorn, charts a new trajectory. Deep house beats take on added urgency, repetitive structures hit rhythmic points and a collage of effects and sounds provide jet stream turbulence. Building to a subtle crescendo, stratified layers of sound combine to a homogeneous whole through technique and craftsmanship and sotto voce vocals are pitched down in subtle nuance reflecting the shimmering origins of a "Cerulean Sky".

Vapour trails are burned away in blazing sun to reveal a deep "Cerulean Sky" in all its iridescent glory.

Adjacent:

Cool and metallic synthesized waves bloom and fade with each drum beat, that 
sets the stage for an amazingly chilled composition. "Adjacent" is just what we 
need from Ametrine to realign ourselves to those things we want to reach most.

Downwind:

Much less intense on the high end than Adjacent, but "Downwind"'s percussion 
certainly strikes harmony within the soul. A beautifully chilled track that 
is perfect to wake up to the sun with.

Music moves us. It heals, tempers, hurts and exalts us. Yet we always think of it as an after-the-fact product - the soundtrack to a story of things said, spoken and done; a closed sentence. Sometimes this theory is proved wrong. 

With “Voidness”, Origami Sound hopes to offer a story that unfolds with you and allows you to patch into something deeper. Something that truly moves us in a most literal manner. 
We hear the echoes and confuse them for the source - an infinite void where we find total freedom and where we find room to dream the waking dream. 
There are many words to hint at the majesty of such a thing. We only have one four-letter term that best suits what this body of work radiates.

That term is Love. Voidness is love, agape.

Borealis - Nightfall

This track has a special place in my heart.  I recorded my grandfather's accordion, which hasn't been played in over twenty years, for the intro and backing pads.  The backing ambient noise is from a hail storm in Albany, NY where I grew up.  The hail noises are also incorporated in the percussion.  The high percussive parts are recorded from an umbrella!  This track was so much fun to make, I hope that the passion that I put into the track comes through to you.  Thank you for a wonderful 2019 - wishing everyone the best for 2020!
