Closing out  our special seven day BCCO x HE.SHE.THEY. takeover to celebrate Trans Awareness Week is Mz Worthy from San Francisco, California.

This artist pays homage to classic House while diving into uncharted, bass-driven territories. 

After over two decades in the scene, Mz Worthy often felt disconnected from her world and fans. In 2020, after years of repressing feelings of gender dysphoria, she came out as transgender, describing it as a puzzle coming together. Inviting fans along on her journey, she now finds freedom and deeper self-expression in her music and mixing. Adding “Mz” to her name, she marks a new era in her career, connecting with her music and audience like never before.

Originally inspired by the American rave scene, she found her base in San Francisco, where she co-founded Dirtybird with Claude VonStroke and Justin and Christian Martin. Her breakout track “Irst Te” on Dirtybird in 2007 was followed by hits like “Shy Look” (2012), “Tric Trac” with Eats Everything (2011), and “Dip” (2013).

Mz Worthy’s debut album Disbehave (2014) on her label Anabatic Records pushed House boundaries and received critical acclaim. The follow-up remix album included contributions from Will Clarke, Walker & Royce, and Yolanda Be Cool, among others. She has since released on top labels like Defected, Exploited, Insomniac, and Toolroom.

A festival regular, Mz Worthy has performed at Coachella, Dirtybird Campout, Burning Man, and Ultra, creating energetic, inclusive dance floors that celebrate authenticity. Openly sharing her trans experience, she’s a beacon for LGBTQ artists, reintroducing herself to the scene with passion and purpose.
