Longtime friend of Viper, Spanish producer Juno has appeared on some of the label’s biggest compilations, including “Raptor” on Summer Slammers 2017, “Red Blocks” on Annual 2018, and the critically acclaimed single “Akira” and “Truth in the Skies” featuring Innate MC. Known for his clean & frenzied neurofunk, Juno has long been held in high esteem by both DJ peers and tastemakers, and we’re excited to present his most recent single with “Lilith” and “Surrender”.

The first of the two tracks is “Lilith”, aptly named for its enticing opening and foreboding undertones. Chaotic but clean, Juno demonstrates impressive mastery of both sound design and arrangement. While the vocals present in the introduction carry a certain charm and grace, don’t be fooled as Juno quickly tears the track apart leading up into a drop that is as sinister as it is berserk.


The flipside of the single, “Surrender”, paints a much more ominous picture, dark yet vivid for a cinematic result. Moments of grandeur stand opposed to the more traditionally hectic sounds of neurofunk for a truly unforgettable result, fusing together sci-fi themes with a gothic/horror twist.

Dark and twisted in all the best ways, both “Lilith” and “Surrender” serve as a welcome reminder of the diversity at the core of Viper’s ethos, celebrating all facets of the genre and continuing to push a platform for artists from all over the world to share their sounds. A welcome addition to the Viper catalogue, Juno’s latest offering is monstrous and not one to be missed!

Juno - Lilith [VPR256]

The second release on Conrad Subs Koba Audio label comes from Lancaster badman Grimesy. With a number of releases under his belt on labels such as Program, Formation and Nuusic, Grimesy has been crafting his own sound for several years and now arrives on Koba with two expertly delivered cuts.

‘Birdie’ is an original, rolling stepper revolving around a morphing and infectious synth riff, whilst ‘Bad Man Sound’ dials up the aggression with a snarling reece and thunderous Amen breaks. Two sublime slices of Jungle Drum & Bass artillery that perfectly show where both Grimesy and Koba Audio are heading.

Fred V is heading straight into 2020, taking things above and beyond since his ‘Proximity’ EP with the latest chapter in his solo story, the ‘Distance’ EP. A widely revered soundsmith for futuristic drum & bass euphoria yet this four track EP also unleashes Fred V’s technical prowess for heavyweight club bangers, bittersweet twists and soaring vocal features from Vonné and Chelsea Watts.

Heading up the EP is ‘Away’, a stunning balance of Vonné’s powerful vocal emotion and Fred V’s synth-laded sonics. In a similar fashion comes ‘Shadow,’ setting the scene with smooth melodies from Chelsea Watts, that slip into an energetic ride primed to electrify dancefloors worldwide.

‘Wobbleboard’ showcases Fred V’s ability to colour outside the lines in the form of a subby, off-kilter stepper, sure to rattle rib-cages and test sound-systems to their limits. Fans of Fred V’s liquid euphoria will celebrate ‘Light In The Distance’, gentle atmospheric pads and crisp synth work see the ‘Distance’ EP home, and round off a showcase of the four corners of Fred V’s sound.

During his time as a solo artist, Fred V has seen support from esteemed BBC Radio 1 dance music tastemaker Annie Mac, electronica YouTube behemoth MrSuicideSheep and even US dance music leviathan Diplo. Fred V can be found taking his unique sound to an international scale, with his 2020 tour of Australia and New Zealand, as well as visits to the crystalline coasts of Croatia for Hospitality On The Beach, Liquicity and Hospitality Returns To The Dock in London.
