Mortlock & Universal Project’s ‘Broken Silence’ album remains a beloved LP for many to this day. Previously unavailable in a digital format, Dispatch Recordings is thrilled to introduce a fresh take on this all-time classic drum & bass album, now featuring exclusive bonus material. Each track benefits from the sleek, updated 2024 mastering by Haden at Height Mastering, delivering a pristine listening experience.

Back in the early 2000s, Mortlock, a member of Vicious Circle, slipped one of their first demos under the door of Universal Project’s flat. Unexpectedly, this led to their first release on Renegade Hardware—remixing Universal Project’s track ‘Jackhammer’. This connection sparked a creative bond, with Mortlock eventually moving in with Universal Project. Together, they crafted the legendary ‘Rollers Convention’, the first track on this album. Drawing inspiration from the diverse styles that influenced them during those formative years, the album showcases a range of sounds, from soaring melodies to tearout filth, while maintaining the core of their signature rolling vibes.

A masterclass in rollers in the truest sense, this album stands as a personal favourite of Ant TC1, who curated the release over a two-year period as a fan, first and foremost. It perfectly captures the raw, breakbeat-driven tech-funk and heavy percussive 2-step, distinctive to the Siren Records sound. Now complete with additional tracks and singles from the Siren catalogue, this re-release is a must-have for fans.

The mighty APOLLO NAVIGATION returns to Heavy Sonics Records for his third release on the label, following his debut EP last year.

Hemel Hempstead's finest D&B producer/DJ and Heavy Sonics resident, Apollo Navigation, AKA Ashley, is back with two absolute heaters - Crash Test and Nothingness.

The a-side, Crash Test, comes in hard with big drums, a groovy bassline, and a powerful and interesting hypnotic vibe. This one packs a punch, like getting hit in the face, with AN's usual dynamic, trademark futuristic bass sounds. This one goes hard, all the way to the second drop, which switches up the drum pattern and rolls through, all the way to the next track!

The b-side is a minimal number, with AN's signature twisted basslines. As the track name suggests, it goes deep and dark, with a haunting vocal just before the heavy drop. AN's versatility in making a stripped-back beat like this one so impactful highlights his superb technical production skills.

We're buzzing to keep having AN consistently release bangers with us, and long may it continue!
