Sri Lankan wonderboy Sasith Gamage, AKA IYRE, has been producing some of the most exciting drum & bass to come out of South Asia in recent years. IYRE’s back catalogue reads like a who’s who of labels and collaborators in drum and bass so it made perfect sense for us to welcome him back to Soulvent Records once more. On ‘UK Flavour’ he delivers something decidedly different in the form of a garage track, teaming up with undoubtedly one of the UK’s greatest MC’s: PAV4N - of Foreign Beggars acclaim - who has contributed an impressive, innumerable lyrical legacy, across a plethora of genres, BPMs, and decades. Strap in for something decidedly forward thinking and authentic. 

As the track titles suggests, ‘UK Flavour’ delivers nothing but distinctly British-bassweight seasoning, perfectly complemented by PAV’s commanding delivery and instantly recognisable tone. IYRE goes toe-to-toe, with crisp-cut drum work, and wonderfully, wonky, wobbly basslines to keep the dancefloor bubbling all Summer long!

Following an impressive debut release for Critical’s talent brewing sub-label Binary in 2024, SMG steps up in uncompromising mood, with the three-track ‘Cloaked’ EP.

The title track draws you in with the eeriest of atmospherics before collapsing into a sharp, stepping groove that swoons and stretches from the despicably rough to the satisfyingly smooth.

‘Suku’ brings the cinematics - melding mystical, dreamy moods and foreboding spoken-word samples with a silky sub-bassline that gently twists and growls its way through endless sonic textures.

‘Halogator’ takes things harder, with SMG linking with fellow Critical producer Waeys to close the EP with a punishing crunch, taking things nasty with a snarling, bickering bassline and splashing drums.
