The Miracle

New sample from the up and coming Full Length 'The Storm That Tenders Oceans'. This track is an instrumental (ambient) track which might remind people of late-era Tomb Of..., and in particular releases like '...Superlative Dreams, Magnificent Shadows' and '...Voices Lost To Despair'. Some might even compare it to early Tomb Of..., since it was actually inspired a lot from '...Those Dismal Moments' and its excessive use of distortion in the string arrangements...



Stillness and Motion

New sample from the up and coming EP 'The Xylophone Musings'. This is one of the few heavy tracks on the EP, as it is mostly focused on ambient and light shoegazer arrangements. Trivia: A Tomb Of... track with the same title (The Ghosts of the Sunset) was written but never released. Aside from the same title, the two tracks have nothing else in common. The track is still in progress, unmastered and does not resemble the final result.

The Hope At The End of the Road

After so many years, I am very happy to finally release the first full Daunenskalpel track. This does not mean that this is a complete track, but it is so close to being called complete. Unlike everything else here, this is not just a sample, but a track with a beginning and an end.

The Torture of Sisyphus (We The Spirits) is not the originally conceived 'We The Spirits, We The Pests' that would have been an adaptation of a Celestial (and later Tomb Of...) track. I have decided to work on something new instead of looking into my archives for music. The end result is something that is much closer to my current vision for Daunenskalpel, and therefore I do not have to come up with an excuse in regards to the primitive/raw sound of it.

The torture of Sisyphus was the right kind of torture for a man with no ideals, moral standards or nicety in him. Yet the torture was disproportionate in its eternity. This song attempts to recapture this feeling.

The track is still in progress, unmastered and still does miss a few thinks here and there.

Daunenskalpel is not music in particular. Yes, it blends ambience, shoegazing, and the art of contemplating one's own existence, but the end remains unknown -- procedural and unexpected. Daunenskalpel reflects the mind and spirit of sole-member Claustrophobist. With profound minimalism and respect for silence, Daunenskalpel is closer to life than to music, to art than to rationality.

Sadly, Daunenskalpel is currently inactive. Plans to release a series of works, including an EP and Album are still in place, but it is not yet known if and when these releases will be able to materialize. However Daunenskalpel is not dead. Like Schrodinger's cat, what screams and pains may come are unbeknownst. But a plan remains: Work on (new) tracks, and on old ideas is still underway. The process is evolving. That it may materialize into something you can listen to though cannot be a promise. Don't hold your breath, but don't bury the cat just yet.

It may be breathing under the quantum surface...
