'Falcon' is the brand new record from The Glorious, and it is a major work by a singular band. 
'During the making of this album it dawned on us that we were discovering the essence of the band', says singer and songwriter, David Mather. In this light, the record is a revelation, a tour de force of beautifully crafted, sublimely melodic and deeply affecting songs. 
'If I'm going to sing something then I'm going to stand behind it', continues Mather. 'The lyrics are real, a truth. I'm singing from a very real place'. One listen to the towering ballad 'I Wake Up' or the album's title track and this is made abundantly clear. The record is unashamedly emotional and heartfelt. 
It is also remarkable in scope - swaggering grooves sit alongside bruised, mournful ballads, hypnotic incantations and even a shimmering pop chronicle of a journey into deep space. It is all made seamless by the restrained, uncluttered production of Mather and long-time collaborator Julian Mendelsohn (Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel). The slightly raw, spacious sound of the album allows the songs to stand clear and free. 
After three albums The Glorious inhabit a space truly their own. It is a space from which they attempt to convey something meaningful, and where the song is king. The powerful 'Falcon' is compelling evidence that they are doing something right.

About the Song: 

“I modelled the lyric to this song on ’Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ where the lines are kind of non specific  — but deal in universal truths. I wanted to express that there is no ceiling to what we can achieve as humans…. 

… Specifically for me I filtered this through our journey as a band, especially the period where we had some success and travelled to LA after a long period of toil. The last part of the song is specifically about this trip: 

‘Moving west to east, when we were Kings, going like a meteorite’. I really liked putting this in!”

Australia’s The Glorious return exploring first love, farewells and lost innocence on their lush and melancholic new single  "Last Game of the Season.”    C0-produced by founder Dave Mather and long-time collaborator  Julian Mendelsohn (Paul McCartney, Kate Bush), will be released worldwide digitally April 20th.  The current lineup consists of founders  Mather (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Dan Gard’ner (drums, vocals, percussion) and Joel Loukes (bass).  According to lead singer Dave Mather, "Last Game of the Season” is partly inspired by the high school drama Friday Night Lights, where the concerns that dominate teenagers' lives are very real and deeply experienced: 

“The final game of any sports  season is symbolic of the seismic changes we experience at a young age. The song is about letting go of one chapter of your life and moving on to the next, and the mixed emotions that come with this. There is excitement and anticipation, but also a certain sadness and loss of innocence. There is a knowledge that this phase is coming to a close, and that something new is around the corner.”

Introducing KINGS, the brand new record by The Glorious.

The fourth album from the Melbourne-based band is their most dynamic and varied to date, a deep trip of sublime melody and consummate songcraft.

The past 18 months have seen the The Glorious begin to carve inroads into America. A worldwide publishing deal for singer-songwriter Dave Mather with LA based Superior Music yielded a major song placement on the Fox TV show 'Bones'. This breakthrough saw the band travel to LA for a clutch of shows, including Gary Calamar's famed 'Mimosa' showcase. The increased exposure provided the spark for Mather to gather his most ambitious group of songs for the band's next recording.

KINGS was recorded live to tape, and captures the quicksilver alchemy that occurs when Mather gets in a room with bassist Joel Loukes and drummer Dan Gard'ner. Mather handles full production duties for the first time, and his knack for beautiful arrangements and restrained instrumentation seeps through every track on the album. 

The record is a compelling sonic journey. From haunting, piano-based balladry ('Saving Me', 'Easy Chair') to Springsteen flavoured yearning ('Last Game of the Season') and golden, string-laced pop ('Meteorite'), Mather's supreme sense of melody combine with the band's limber chemistry to conjure a rare magic. The clear-eyed mixes of long-time collaborator Julian Mendelsohn (Paul McCartney, Kate Bush) provide the final polish, giving the album a slightly raw, timeless resonance.

The band will release two lead tracks from KINGS in April and May, with the full album being released internationally on June 1, 2018.

The record will be released through Los Angeles based company Koral Young.
