It all began back in 2003 with a great gig of Marko at MusiCafé while studying in Leuven. Later on I discovered his "Marko on Sundays" compilations released under the N.E.W.S. Records label. These little gems of progressive house music convinced me to create a new mix of only the most funky, dirty and deep underground tunes. The last compilation already dates from 2005, but still it sounds like it could have been released yesterday. This proves the timelessness of Marko's musical flavour as both a DJ and artist.
 
His biography only confirms what has been stated before:
 
For the past 14 years Marko has been the resident DJ for the legendary "La Rocca on Sunday" nights at La Rocca Ballroom in Lier which is a quite remarkable achievement. He has been called a specialist by some and 'middle of the road' by others, but everyone agrees: Marko has got real talent and he is a true professional. For years his name appeared in the Belgian top 10 DJ's readers poll of dance music magazine "Outsoon". In 2004 he was also voted "Best Belgian Progressive DJ". His main source of energy comes directly from the dance floor. Its feedback drives him on. He's a master in picking up its vibe and guiding it into his sets. An amazing collection of vinyl helps him to create an incredible atmosphere among the party crowd.

Last Friday I took a day off to do some serious CD shopping in Antwerp city. It had been a while since I bought new records so I was really looking forward to it. During my search I discovered some old Bargrooves compilations. Although they date back from 2007, they still sound pretty contemporary.
   
But the biggest revelation of the day was a nice collection of the finest tracks previously released by London's most funky breakz label, Jalapeno Records. This is volume 1 of a new compilation called Jalapeno Funk and I can assure you, funky it is!
   
At first sight the album contains 2 floor fillers from Holland's hottest live act Kraak & Smaak, but after a second look you find also Skeewiff and D'Stephanie, Antwerp's well-known eclectic DJ and producer lady. She has been a resident at the famous club of Stereo Sushi for several years, so she knows for sure how to spin the records and enjoy the crowd.

As promised in a previous blog, I've created a brand new demo mix of my favourite Sweet Coffee tracks. This time it took me a couple of weekends to finish it. You're asking yourself why? Let me explain. I'm a big Sweet Coffee fan and probably I'm not the only one out there who loves future soul music. To please you all, I had to mix each track smoothly and sometimes start all over again until I got it completely right. You can see it like some kind of tribute to my favourite producer-duo Raffa and Den Hétrix. Hope they like it too?!&#13;

The Summer of 2008 is going to be a rainy and cloudy one, so I was thinking ... why not bringing the sun into my own demo mixes?! I searched for 'sunny' records in my collection and discovered 2 nice albums: "Calypso" by Sven Van Hees and "Camino Real" by Buscemi. Both producers are well known in the Belgian lounge &amp; chill scene. I love their jazzy and funky latin grooves. This kind of music is popular in many lounge bars and perfect in combination with a fresh juicy cocktail on the rocks. Hmmm ... If you listen carefully to my set, you'll hear somewhere in the middle a short interlude by Raffa Brescia, one of my favourite producers, deejays and song-writers. Together with Patrick 'Den Hétrix' Bruyndonx, he founded Sweet Coffee. A band that brings you future soul music with heavenly vocals of lead-singer Bibi Diabokua. I've planned to make another demo mix full of Sweet Coffee tracks, because this music can really rock the sunny place!&#13;

Welcome to his SoundCloud : The Mixtapes!

He grew up with Michael Jackson's music and other disco-related material. In 2002 he started collecting tracks and 5 years later he was spinning the records as deejay DAVE CANTO. Ever since, his gear and mixing skills have been improving. He prefers Pioneer’s CDJ-800/1000/2000 Digital Decks, providing him with extra possibilities that vinyl deejays could only dream of!

MUSIC IS THE ANSWER

Today his musical flavour consists of deep / tech / progressive house and minimal tunes. From time to time he likes to add some latin influences, like saxophone, percussion and piano samples, to make it sound more sweet & sexy!

In 2012 he released his first refix of Booka Shade's 'Night Falls' and obtained the 2nd place in the semi-final of Formaat's Don't Hype DJ-contest.
