In 2008, inspired by my first encounter with the sheer vastness of Canada, I began writing this song to reflect the spirit of that unforgettable experience, and of the slow, timeless freighter-ship sea journey which took us there. It is an Ode to Nature and to the threatened world we live in. It ends by suggesting that George Harrison’s heartfelt phrase “the love between us all” may prove to be the key to our future, and to that of the world we say we love.

(Finally recorded at ARC studio, Birmingham, England in August 2025, engineered and produced by Toby Wilson and his dad, my old dear friend  Bob Wilson, whose spontaneous, uplifting guitar solo steers the song to a close on a note of much needed optimism)

Subtitled “The Lake Below”, this dream-like song was written in 2015 after one magical night spent camping near a waterfall by Kootenay Lake, British Columbia. The ancient First Nations’ veneration for the endless life-giving cycle of water from sea to sky and back again is what underlies the lyrics. In April 2020, collaborating online England- to- Canada during Covid19 lockdown Natalie Mason added her gorgeous viola which weaves its way playfully between the words, like a meandering stream.
