This is based on my stepson Josh, who used to play "Halo" with his friends online until 3 AM, even while he was in college. Afterwards, he joined the Navy and trained on different planes and helicopters and now he's far away and flies these huge birds. His mother and I are so proud of him.  And of course, there's a quick "laud" to his wife who stands by his side and is equally proud of him.

Unanswered Questions

This song is about a girl who used to be caring and kind.  She was also really smart. But the older she got, the more she looked down the end of her nose at others.  Her friends, family, and everyone who ever helped her out suddenly became useless. So she abandoned them all emotionally.  Then, when she entered the workforce for the first time, with that same attitude,  she learned a really tough lesson;  if you treat people badly, you're going to be on your own. No one will help you once they figure out you're a user.  And when you can't fit in with others, you'll be out on the street, alone. In this case, co-workers left a broken crown on her desk on the day she was fired, mocking her for thinking she was a queen and acting like they were all her servants.  Maybe one day she'll learn that she should treat others with respect, caring, kindness, and love, the way others treated her before she became high and mighty, or what folks in the country might call, 'snooty'.

I think there are a LOT of men and women out there who have felt stuck, trapped, empty and alone; even while being right next to someone else.  Someone who for whatever reason can't or won't give you what you need to feel alive.  If they were cheaters or liars, then maybe leaving would be easy. But what if it's someone whose just "broken" and you realize you can't "fix" them, no matter how hard you've tried?  What if that someone doesn't even comprehend what it means to be close, to be emotionally intimate with you without saying or doing something to sabotage things? And when do you call it quits and escape? A year? 5 years? A decade, or how about 13 years?  13 years of knowing the day they they married you, that it was because they thought you were a nice person, maybe someone who could provide, while at the same time, feeling NO PASSION for you, because they are still in love with the GHOST of someone they have promoted to sainthood when they pass away? A person can't compete against ghosts. Or the continuing thoughts and feelings for someone else, while they are right there in front of you.  This song addresses the need to break free when YOU KNOW, in your heart, 100%, that this person will never change, because they CAN'T -- because they're broken.

I'm just creating music with the tools I have at my disposal, hoping the stories I weave will resonate with others. I have multiple albums out there.  "It's All About Family", is a collection of songs specifically for family members. "Songs from the Heart" is the start of my wife's album, since she's been bitten by the artistic bug.
