King of the Losers

By 1979 I’d been playing guitar for 10 years and it was my sole income. I was in a working cover/originals band called Ruckus and there was a lot more 4 to 5 night type of engagement gigs, either here in town or on the road. We weren’t getting rich but we did okay. My other band at the time was basically jamming pals doing whatever we wanted, I don’t know if we ever officially had a name but we played some cool fun gigs. I found this recording of us the other day of a song I’d written then called Anything With a Smile. I converted it to mp3 and sent it to 2 of the 3 guys that are playing on it, Randy Jones on drums and Ed Rafferty on bass. Our 4th member, Mike Myhrvold played both guitar and sax with us, this song features him on sax and myself of guitar. We had lost touch with Mike over the years but after I sent this song out to Ed & Randy, Randy found Mike’s recent obituary. I remember Mike was always smiling so this one goes out to him, and all of our past bandmates that are no longer making music with us, Rest in Peace and thanks for all of your wonderful music and memories.
