The mind map lists the bases we want to cover, and some part of the links between our lifelong music experience and the electronic scene of today.  It's partly about playing with the interface between DJ mixes of other peoples tunes, and producer/studio mixes creating original tunes. Using micro slicing and multi threading of material, with an ear for the magic moment of harmonic mix beauty and eye for mix aptness. 
The project is also about celebrating the history of musical experimentation, featuring innovators ancient to the future. Using spoken word from Sun Ra's Arkestra as a leitmotif, it's a tribute from Coldcut to some of the artists we feel have both moved us and changed the game.
You can catch Matt Black from Coldcut celebrating 25 years of Solid Steel alongside DJ Cheeba at We Love in Ibiza on 1st September.

The comeback of our mixtape sessions is finally here! Music has always been a passion of ours and a big part of the creative environment we surround ourselves with. So it was only a matter of time ‚till we bounce back with another beater. Now it’s finally here: We teamed up with young talented musician and beat connaisseur FloFilz and streetwear’s primary rock Carhartt WIP to create this exclusive experience.

For the 4th Edition of our series Flo compiles a variety of unreleased material, exclusive remixes and classic instrumental hip hop to 50 minutes of Teacup Trouble. When the leaves turn brown we all like to spend a cold dark autumn evening inside a warm cozy home with our hands wrapped around a good cup of tea. But at the same damn time there’s trouble going on outside. Drug dealing, drive-bys, hustle. That real gangster sh*t. Teacup Trouble combines both worlds into one great piece of music.

To complete our project we partnered with Carhartt WIP to create a unique Bundle including a T-Shirt, a Teacup, good Tea, Special Packaging and for the first time in our young mixtape session history an actual tape.

Solid Steel (3rd February) Following on from 2015's appearance of Andrew Hung on Solid Steel, we're delighted to welcome fellow Fuck Buttons member Benjamin John Power under his Blanck Mass moniker. His forthcoming album 'World Eater' is coming out on 3rd March on Sacred Bones and the first single 'Please' gave us a taste of what's to come. We hear music from The Caretaker, Syrinx, Tunnel Canary, Wolf Eyes, Kiko Kids from Tanzania, label mates Uniform, Gerry Rafferty and Napalm Death, plus a clip from the time John Lydon appeared on Judge Judy! Solid Steel (16th June) This week it's an incredible honour to welcome Afrobeat legend Tony Allen to Solid Steel. His drumming was the driving force behind Fela Kuti’s Africa ’70s band and he also recorded a string of solo albums. His latest release 'A Tribute to Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers' honours another extraordinary drummer and is released on Blue Note. Art Blakey was an idol for Tony Allen and Art Blakey was inspired by trips to West Africa, recording African-inspired jazz LPs in the 50's and 60's. The EP was recorded live with his 8-piece band and is a preview of his forthcoming first album for the classic Blue Note record label. You can hear 2 tracks from the EP in the mix alongside  music from the following artists old and new with words from Tony Allen for each track

Solid Steel (28th July) In Hour 1 we welcome Avey Tare from Animal Collective, celebrating the release of his latest solo album 'Eucalyptus', which is out now on CD and Deluxe Double LP through Domino. Described as 'Recommended listening for dawn or dusk. An electroacoustic movement through leaves, rocks and dust', it was written in LA and recorded by Animal Collective’s Deakin. It also features chamber orchestration arranged by Eyvind Kang, plus musicians Angel Deradoorian and Jessika Kenney. His mix mix takes us through a sublime selection of music including tracks from Andy Bey, East New York Ensemble, Quasimoto, Stanley Clarke and Herbie Hancock.
