Pardon Funkin' Me

Influenced and inspired by TV Gangster theme music of the 70s and 80s.
What began as a 'happy accident' discovery of the first riff for this track, a long long time ago, has now become a full instrumental.

Just a test, that became more of a tune as it was being recorded, during my first trial use of a Tascam portastudio, never owned one before but I have already learned a lot from this recording while I'm listening back to it.  The levels weren't high enough during recording so it's actually quite a weak signal compared to what it could be.  I had to dilute the impact of the drum pattern because the hi-hat is too high in the drum machine's internal mixer.  It might generally all be a bit too heavy on the bass, as 
well, but, depends on the speakers as well I suppose.  So, it's a two bar drum pattern with all live synths and keys, nothing else sequenced.

1980 was the year that I bought my first synthesiser, with money saved up out of earnings from my first source of paid employment from a misinformed choice of career path.
The synthesiser I chose, as soon as I had enough money, was a Yamaha CS-5, a single oscillator, single envelope generator, non-programmable monophonic synth, found at the beginning of Yamaha's CS range.
It was the music of that era and the sounds that were used to create the electronic music that I was hearing around me, which inspired and enthused me to become as involved as I still am today. 
Created with one drum machine pattern, in my attempt to emulate the 'simplicity' feeling of influential tunes from early days of the UK Synth Pop scene.

Two tracks for Synthesisers with their Sequencers and one for the Drum Machine, all midi~synced and CV/Gated together.

All live Keyboard parts on the Nord and Mopho Bass Synthesiser, played over heavy custom Drum Machine sounds for beats designed to be loud through speakers. 
No Midi connections were made and no sequencing for the production of this tune.
