This mix was made for Intention 14.5, at Crystal Creek on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Live, improvised djembe drumming was layered on top of this mix. Thematically, the set begins with downtempo psy dub then builds up into bass crescendos.  Psy dub(step) is much calmer than most sub-genres of dubstep, so it matched the summer sunshine vibe of the event. Good times with my beloved community! 

At 59:15, the dub is layered with a more middle eastern sound. Many ladies in our community love dancing to this sub-genre of music, which can be used for bellydancing. The combination of powerful bass plus exotic instruments and voices is awesome. The song Habibi, by David Starfire, goes out to my dear friend Tarek who is on a mission to bring his family out of a war-torn part of the Middle East and into Canada. Hala hala, Habibi.

This was my first performance on the main stage of an event. My goal for Intention 15 is to improve my mixing and record my live performance so that you can hear my drumming too. Thanks to ektoplazm.com for providing a lot of copyleft music for this non-commercial performance.

Bass Goddess is a tribute to the archetype of the divine feminine, the creative force of existence which brings the priceless gift of life to humanity. We are all part of the divine feminine, as it gave birth to us all. Flowing with this energy makes us feel more connected to nature, each other and ourselves. The qualities of the divine feminine are reflected in this bellydancing remix, which features middle-eastern instruments and singing combined with heavy psydub bass. 

It was performed live, accompanied by djembe drum, in August 2017 at the legendary Crystal Creek on the Sunshine Coast. This praxis project featured a decentralized dance floor, with bellydancing gear for everyone to try without need for a stage and singular point of focus. It was a lot of fun and we danced and jammed until the sun went down.

Elemental Synthesis is a progressive psytrance remix featuring the sonic manifestations of our planet's elemental energies. The tracks were selected for their resonance with the elements of air, water, earth and fire. The journey begins with air, that invisible yet powerful energy that emerges from the ether. It flows into water, a force with dynamic depths and coalescing momentum that crests to a peak then crashes into the shore. There it connects with the earth, a massive power that serves as a platform for the cycles of life and death. On a campfire near the shore burns the element of fire, an incendiary spark capable of inspiring, nurturing or destroying. The synthesis is completed through the energy of the observer, resonating with the elemental energies and the entrancing pulse of the bass.

This is the story of a journey to find balance between the forces of light and darkness that exist within all human beings. It features samples from sages like Alan Watts, Ekhart Tolle, and Deepak Chopra, sharing enlightening phrases on the nature of consciousness, mindfulness, dissonance and harmony. The objective is to inspire people to utilize mindfulness, forgive their shadow side and consciously choose to respond to life with love instead of fear. It's about Reunification, a journey through light and darkness to Oneness, both within one's self and with the universal life force.

The set was a performed on New Years Eve in 2016, accompanied by djembe drumming.

This mix was designed as a psy trance journey, incorporating morning psy and full-on psy as well as thought-provoking samples from sources such as Ekhart Tolle, Waking Life and The Matrix. My goal was to bring the listener into the flow of the present moment through the ebbs and flows of the percussive waves, bringing feelings of connectedness and exhilaration. The mix was accompanied by a live djembe drum performance, and I incorporated nature sounds, such as thunder and lighting, to provide a juxtaposition between the natural and the digital. The bass throbbed on a dance floor that was next to a pond which reflected the brilliant stars overhead. The performance occurred in the beautiful, magical valley known as Crystal Creek on the Sunshine Coast of BC.

Live @ Resolutions - The Psytrance Experience

Sirena is a DJ, promoter, radio show host and dance-floor enthusiast based out of Vancouver, Canada.

Hailing from rural Alberta, Canada, she was introduced to music at an early age with Classical piano instruction. During this time, she developed a fondness for daydreaming; easy for a child to do amongst the backdrop of vast open fields, and seemingly endless skies in the prairies. Finding the nature of Classical training too strict, she joined the percussion section of her school band for the remainder of her studies. 

Sirena's first taste of underground music culture came from the raw energy generated by the DIY punk scene in Edmonton, where she was exposed to acts involving analog electronics with live instruments, further developing her passion for hidden venues and discovering unique, evolving sounds. After relocating to Vancouver to pursue film, Sirena naturally found the like-minded who were participating in the local underground rave scene. After sharing consciousness-expanding experiences on the dance-floor, and now close friends exposing her to their knowledge of DJing, Sirena was compelled to learn to mix herself. 

Her alias Sirena was officially born in 2014, and since then has played a countless number of venues in her city, working closely alongside other artists working hard to promote the beauty of Underground music culture. These years of experience have led her to sharing the stage with artists such as Traumer, Mihai Popoviciu, Bill Patrick, Jay Tripwire, Mayan Nidam, Benny, Claire, and a wide array of talented DJs and producers from different parts of the world that have made their home in Vancouver.

After these years of sonic exploration, her sound can be described mostly as Minimal, yet she can be found playfully mixing within the realms of Deep House, Tech, Microhouse, Progressive, and Psychedelic Techno. With these sounds, her aim is to create a time and space wherein everyone can dive freely into the depths of spirit, dancing as she would if on the other side of the booth.
