Tresor (German for safe or vault) is an underground techno nightclub in Berlin and a record label.

History:

The club was founded in March 1991 in the vaults of the former department store Wertheim at Leipziger Strasse 126-128 in Mitte, the central part of East Berlin, next to the Potsdamer Platz. The history of the club goes back to 1988 when the electronic music label Interfisch opened the Ufo Club in Berlin. Ufo was the original centre of Berlin house and techno, but due to financial problems that club closed in 1990.
After Ufo closed, Interfisch's head, Dimitri Hegemann, and some investors in the club found the new space in East Berlin. This was advantageous timing, as it was only a few months before Germany unified. The vaults under the Wertheim department store proved to be the perfect location for a club, and Tresor quickly became the place to be in Berlin. Tresor continued to be a popular club, having expanded and reconstructed continuously several times to include an outdoor garden area, and a second "Globus" floor. The Tresor floor in the basement was reserved specifically for hard techno, industrial and acid music, while Globus was featured mainly more mellow house sound. The record label Tresor Records was founded soon after the club first opened, in October 1991. Featured artists on the label include Jeff Mills, Blake Baxter, Juan Atkins, Robert Hood, Drexciya, Stewart Walker, Joey Beltram, DJ Surgeon, Pacou, Cristian Vogel and many others.
In 2004 the documentary "Tresor Berlin: The Vault & the Electronic Frontier" was released. Directed by Mike Andrawis, it features interviews with Hegemann, Carola Stoiber, and DJs & artists associated with the club & label. The film covers the period from Hegemann's involvement with the Fishladen and UFO clubs in Berlin-Kreuzberg to the final months prior to Tresor's closure.
Tresor closed on 16 April 2005, after several years' prolonged short-term rent. The city sold the land to an investor group to build offices on the Leipziger Straße location. It was open for each night of April 2005, with the final event starting the Saturday night with queues stretching all the way down the road, and still going Monday morning.
Tresor reopened on 24 May 2007 in the decommissioned southern tract of the combined heat and power plant Heizkraftwerk Berlin-Mitte in Köpenicker Straße. 
Since November 2019 the club has a subsidiary in the city of Dortmund called Tresor.West. 
In September 2022, Tresor published a photobook, Tresor: True Stories, to document the past 30 years of its history.

Isaiah Major aka DJ Rush is an American DJ, producer and entertainer from Chicago. Known for his alias Major Rush, Russian Roulette and The Drum Major. Rush made his way into the DJ business and never limited himself. He quickly found his way to Berlin, Germany and his career kicked off into high gear.
Not only have his DJ skills and music selection moved and impressed fans all over the globe, his songs have made such a big impact on the dance scene with anthems like “Mutha Fucking Bass”, “Get On Up”, “I Believe” and the list goes on and on. Starting off with Dance Mania and running the gambit of most every techno label including his very anticipated Vigorous Digital and Kne' Deep Rec.. It becomes obvious why Daft Punk consider DJ Rush a hallmark in the industry, placing him near the start of the list in their seminal track “Teachers”.
Rush combines all styles of music he loves, from Jazz, Disco, Funk and Soul to make the events more interesting and keeping the people on their toes. This happens not just within the music, but DJ Rush is the total package. Sometimes dressing up to show his sinister alias Russian Roulette; this what make the big man a strong entertainer and not just a standard disc jockey.
Believing in expression is the key to entertaining and success.

And now, after two years, we’re happy to welcome back a techno veteran and a true legend, Dave Tarrida, who brought us a brand new bunch of killer tracks. Fantastic worlds of imaginary monsters are going through our heads with these stormy and aggressive sounds. Taking his energy from the ‘90s, Dave Tarrida accumulates the power of these three decades of techno in one sure shot. On remixing duties, young and very promising St.Petersburg's hard techno producer, Andrei Mironov, also known as Ornviom, also joined the release with his own vision of the title track, even faster and heavier.

@ben-sims has been one of my favourite DJs for over twenty years and sets the standard for mixing techno records. I have been buying Ben’s records since the late nineties and he has always been one of those ‘buy-on-site’ producers. His legendary labels like Theory, Hardgroove and Ingoma set the standard for driving, hard, funky tribal techno. His disco-infused techno releases were always one of my favourites to play back in the day (and still are!).

I still have my copies of Ben’s mix CDs – Escapism Part 1 & Part 2, Welcome To My World and Fabric 73. Mixes I studied as much as I enjoyed and listened to on repeat. Listening to Ben mix has always made me want to get better at DJing and for that I salute and respect him to no end.

Anytime I have seen Ben live, it has been a real treat and a humbling education in the art of mixing.

Protagonist status in one city is high praise indeed; holding key stakes in several is something else entirely. Something that Spanish born and Scottish bred Dave Tarrida can boldly claim. 

Tarrida’s timeline begins in 1991 in Edinburgh as founder and resident of the now legendary Sativa club. Here’s where Dave met Neil Landstrumm, Tobias Schmidt and Cristian Vogel, becoming a foursome that would continue to share gigs—the others live, Dave as DJ—and labels—like Tresor, Scandinavia, Mosquito and Sativae—for the first half of their respective careers. In 1994 the club bore Sativae Recordings, which Dave manned together with Steve Glencross, spawning the sibling Drought Records imprint two years later. Around the same time Dave took to the studio, though it would be another few more years before any records would materialise.

1999 was a turning point that saw Dave return to his native Barcelona, where he would spend the following eleven years honing his production craft and exceptional deck-side manner with local residences at Moog (which he still frequents today) and Nitza, as well as Stardust in Madrid. It was the same year that Tresor released his first solo record, ‘Postmortem Pop EP’, having debuted the year prior in collaboration with Tobias Schmidt on ‘The Test EP’. He produced two albums during this period: ‘Paranoid’ in 2001 for Tresor, and ‘Life’s a Glitch’ three years later—Sativae’s final record.

In 2010 Dave relocated again, this time to Vienna where he is currently based. After two decades of happily playing the role of DJ and promoter, 2013 sees Dave shift focus back on his own productions with the unveiling of his brand new label AUTOFAKE and pending releases for Housemeister’s soon-to-be re-launched All You Can Beat stable, and Funk D'Void’s Outpost Records. Saying that, he hasn’t quite hung up the headphones just yet. As the saying goes: you can take the DJ out of the club, but you can’t take the club out of the DJ—expect to see the name Dave Tarrida on many a flyer to come.
