Our World MIXTAPE

Marcus Sur from Essen, Germany has made his Manual debut earlier this year with the release of Slow Hands Make Me Dizzy on MNL's Winter sampler and we welcomed him on board our Manual Movement podcast series where he already showcased one of the songs that's on this release.

Purpur EP marks his official debut on the label after having released on infamous labels such as Noir Music, Upon You, Trapez and Resopal to name a few. The two originals have big genre crossover potential and we're expecting them to be supported by a wide range of DJ's. Naturally they come with a dosis of warmth and melody as you've come to expect from Manual Music.

On remix duties we welcome two new names to the label; Dave Pad from Russia and Swiss born David Keno who now resides in Germany. Dave Pad's releases on Highway Records are supported by many of the A-list DJ's out there and is one of the favorite producers of Manual label owner Paul Hazendonk, so it was about time he entered the Manual family.

David Keno has already got quite the track record behind his name. This Berlin veteran has been on top of the game for many years now, running his own Keno Records to great success, but also being signed to Suara, Dirtybird, Noir Music, Mother Recordings, Katermukke and many many others.

Fideles and Kellerkind cross paths into a split EP consisting of six original tracks showcasing their individual yet complemental production styles.

Haptic’s murmuring vocals are at the center of Vitamins, a playful exploration of fluid atmospherics. A clanging bassline provides the backdrop for whirlwinding synths, as the vocals build up an enveloping, dance-inducing tension. Wave Echoes kicks in lively from the get go: a relentless, steady percussion tied into a wandering baseline are the constant mainstays. The melody slowly develops as a fuzzy wandering pad adds another dimension, equally spacious as it is heavy.

Carving light with synth sweeps and spacious reverb, Illumino takes shape as a deep tech introspection. Accented with whirring bits and maintaining an elated undertone, it effectively embodies the ever-ascending, never-releasing groove that’s perfect for peak time hours.

Kellerkind steps up to the plate with Subzero, a slice of cavernous dub tech. Breathy vocals and sparse ethereal elements set a dreamy mood. Underlined by smooth piano chords, the vocal develops into a full fledged hymn that is both emotive and mesmerising. For his second take, the Swiss producer embarks on a techno tinged journey. Opting for distorted synths and a stomping bassline, he aptly crafts a near dungeon-like atmosphere only sweetened by a lush female vocal. Teaming up with Sven, they offer up Shakti Pan, a meeting point between tribal infused percussion and deep-set riffs. Hollowed out drums and bells chimes touch on chorus vocals and manage to create a highly immersive experience, rounding off the release on an uplifting note.

By his debut album „Alcatraz“ in January 2015, ARAS label head André Galluzzi thrilled with a concept album inspired by occult sounds and psychedelic vocals. „Alcatraz” as a whole is a captivating piece of art, its the essence of a club night. Now after received a wave of icredible feedback from „Alcatraz“, the bird returns to ARAS with a bunch of remixes of the hypnotic track „Mathilda“. Time to welcome Mike Shannon and Jacek Sienkiewicz to the ARAS family. This remixes will be a blast at the club by its very deep and reduced, futuristic interpretations. 

Jacek Sienkiewicz lives in Warsaw and he is a key figure in Polish electronic music scene. He holds Recognition since 1999, one famous label based in Berlin. With one foot deep in classic Detroit and Chicago dance scene, and the other in modern jazz and classical music, Jacek's tracks for the past ten years always try to find a right balance between the avant-garde and dancefloor, between primal emotions and highly sophisticated sonic wizardry. His latest album „Hideland“ has been released in August 2016 on Recognition.

Those Nights is outlined in bold sound strokes - radiating synths and catchy, twilight-drenched vocals lead to a near-apocalyptic breakdown. A straightforward, punchy slice, it’s arguably the danciest cut on the release, with the other three following closely. Meanwhile, Playground is centred around a tribal-infused melody accented by wind instrument loops with a predominantly eerie aesthetic.

A stripped-back cut with playful ethnic vocals, Lelelale’s charm lies in its minimalist backdrop that puts the emphasis on the vocals and exotic instrumental bits.

The Smooth Operator exhibits a subtler atmosphere, melding equal parts groove and feeling into a heady sound while remaining in the same auditory realm as the rest of the EP.
