Dave Hall is a conservatory-trained composer who, early in his career. exercrised his skills in a folk-rock style that was informed by his multi-ethnic heritage (he's English, Irish, Italian, Norwegian and Lebanese!), his parents varied record collection and his classical training.  Later, he began writing music for plays, including children's musicals. Now, returning to his classical training he is composing longer works for chamber ensembles. "Songs of Boyhood," found in its complete form here on Soundcloud, is a thirteen-movement work for voice and string quartet. Dave's new work is going over extremely well with audiences: the rich textures and elegant poetry of his earlier pop work can be heard in his new material, winning him new fans among those who enjoy classical music, and his warm story-teller's style is still present, pleasing the people who've been following him since his days as a singer/songwriter.
