Haven’t done an interview for sometime now but this full-on Pre-Recorded `Nostalgic` Cracker came together following the festive Jazz Social `21 session.

One of the very `original` soul club enthusiasts from way back in the day, talking various clubs (Westcliff/Clacton, Windmill/Copford, Goldmine/Canvey Island, Lacy Lady/Ilford…& `Candles`/Brentwood!) (Broadcast last Week 29/11/23) - A Pre-`Festive` Tingler!

Following the Re-discovery of my musical inspiration from the late 70s/early 80s (DJ CRAIG ROYALE - WINDMILL, Copford, Colchester, Essex + BARN, Braintree). We always attempt to get together for at least one show over the year normally over the `Festive` period talking Classic Clubs (Essex/LDN) & Classic Soul/Disco/Fusion tunes.

Well!...this time, Craig brought along a close friend `PAUL GRATUE` Whitham, Silver End, CRACKERS - LDN, Kingswood Club - Hornchurch), who I had limited knowledge of but understood he played some top clubs from the same period.

For anyone remotely linked to the area (Essex/LDN) &/or fans of the `Soul, Funk, Jazz or Reggae/Ska` Genre - This is an absolute MUST! - It caught me by complete surprise and i hadn't properly prepared at all.
 
Personally blew me away with such quality tuneage from the grandmasters/pioneers of the club `dance` sound that we know today.

If you listen back to virtually all of the many interviews with all the various Colchester acquaintances over the years, a name keeps cropping up ALL the time DJ `Craig Royale` (Jazz-Funk/Disco pioneer).

Even the `Holy Trio` Original Embassy Suite (COL) DJs (Gary, Jimmi & John) all make reference to him.

My own inspiration having listened to him perform at the seminal Tuesday nights at the Windmill (Copford - Marks Tey - Colchester) aged 16 at the time.

Hopefully, like me, you will enjoy hearing all the musical memory trips of his resident club nights (Copford Windmill & Essex Barn - Braintree).
