Having been a staple in the Parisian scene for over two decades, DJ Deep’s vast knowledge of electronic music is indisputable making his return to production in recent years all the more exciting, releasing on Tresor, Rekids, and his highly regarded label Deeply Rooted. 

‘La Grande Brasserie’ features rolling kicks and a subtle rhythm as futuristic stabs ebb in and out of the mix, contrasting to the ‘2e Service’ version which, whilst sharing a similar aesthetic, sounds bigger with its echoing synths and infectious claps. 

On the flip, both tracks are more dark and mellow in comparison; ‘Paris Heartbeat’ demonstrates twisted atmospherics and gloomy elements, whilst the intricate and mesmerising ‘Chord Kids’ is exemplary of DJ Deep’s ability to craft imaginative left-of-centre cuts.

UNCAGE founder Marco Faraone makes his second appearance on Rekids with a massive vocal cut entitled ‘On My Way’, featuring a remix from 50Weapons and Hyperdub’s Addison Groove.

The Italian techno producer had an active year touring in 2017, dropping only one release on Tenax Recordings. However, 2018 is already proving to be one of his busiest on the production front, with releases appearing on Rekids Special Projects, On Edge Society and his own label UNCAGE, not to mention forthcoming appearances on Gigolo and Avotre. He now returns to Rekids with his biggest sounding record yet.

With its infectious vocal, rolling kicks and off-beat hats, it is undeniable that ‘On My Way’ is destined to become one of this year’s most recognisable club tracks. On the flip, Bristolian producer and Swamp 81 affiliate Addison Groove has produced an intricate remix featuring a cacophony of percussion as a stuttering low-end joins chilling synths. Finally, Faraone concludes the package with a ‘Dub Acid Rework’, losing the vocals whilst incorporating heady 303 licks.

For her Power Plant imprint's first release in the past 17 months, Swedish DJ-producer La Fleur starts off 2019 with her outstanding 'Aphelion' EP - a two-track release filled with conviction and spirit.

Ahead of its release, La Fleur has handed the EP's title-track over to Mixmag for a premiere. Explaining the thought process behind her latest creation, she tells us: “Aphelion is the point in the orbit when the planet is the farthest from the sun, so I wanted to give this an otherworldly vibe with the chords and the melody loop.”

Long time innovator Mathias Kaden debuts on Rekids with two rolling cuts with remixes by leading Japanese artist Hiroshi Watanabe and Delsin Records regular Vril.

With two decades of experience, Mathias Kaden is without a doubt one of house music’s most consistent artists. Known for his versatile approach to music making, Kaden has released on labels like Ovum and Pets, not to mention Mule Musiq and Ornaments under his Japanese inspired side project Mathimidori. Not only that, Kaden has proven his adaptability with remixes of many top tier artists like DJ Koze, Wareika and Jesse Rose. He now joins Rekids to further establish his unwavering reputation.

‘Liberate Drums’ is already highly sought after having generated a lot of hype on a Honey Dijon podcast earlier this year and rightly so - Kaden layers claps with a looped leading groove and warped vocals. Vril then distorts the original, bringing filtered effects and crunchy percussion, while Hiroshi Watanabe’s musical rendition transforms the track with epic strings that work amongst elongated vocals giving the track a mystical quality. Finishing on a darker note, ‘Helicopter’ utilises warping waves which oscillate atop a bed of hammering percussion, infused with a groove that is destined to get you moving.
