Over The Line

I wrote this song after a rough night with my son and decided I wasn't going to fight. I chose to transmute the energy we had created into art, something positive, something more loving... I sat at the piano and most of this came out in a single stream of words.  Tara Brach once said that when we yell or scream at each other, it's because our hearts are far apart and we are trying to reach across the distance. And similarly so, when we whisper tenderly, it's because our hearts are close enough to hear each other perfectly well.  I've always loved that idea and it makes intuitive sense to me. Huge thanks to all my supporters making my music possible:  Jack Quick for guitar, bass and and arrangement thoughts Jonathan Plum for background vocals and fine lead guitar work, mixing and structure help, and recording this at London Bridge Studio Ezra Walsh for improving my photo for the artwork (and no this is not my son).

It’s a bluesy rock tune with a melodic piano riff that starts in half-time, kicks into gear, and then eases back again. I played piano, drums, and sang all the vocals, with bass by the amazing Keith Lowe and mixing and a sweet guitar solo by Jonathan Plum at London Bridge Studio.
