Taken from Dave Lee & Maurissa Rose’s chart-topping album ‘London / Detroit’, released earlier this year, we have the modern boogie version of Johnnie Taylor’s soul classic ‘What About My Love’, a standout track from the LP and freshly reworked from the original album cut. Dave Lee joins forces with London’s super disco collective, Horse Meat Disco to rework the T.S Monk classic, 'Candidate For Love'. This debut collaboration also features long-time Sunburst Band vocalists Diane Charlemagne and Donna Gardier.

There are three mixes on offer with the classic Joey Negro Disco Blend, a more sleezy Horse Meat Disco Mix and a Moroder-ish dub version from JN.

Believe it or not this is the 200th Z Records single release which saw a limited pressing on coloured vinyl as an exclusive for Record Store Day 2014, one that sold out within hours of hitting the stores.

After the huge crossover success of the original back in 2006, the artist formerly known as Joey Negro, Dave Lee has reworked one of the biggest tracks of his career into an original Disco anthem. Keeping the peak time energy up but injecting more Chic-esque Funk than you can shake your rump to, there was only ever one person who could elevate the original into a modern disco classic. Taka Boom’s powerful vocals still soar away but this time it’s over crisp Clav licks, effortless rhythm Guitar, sublime Piano, and sharp Synth work all underpinned by some sultry disco bass guitar action.
Unlike many crossover hits 'Make a Move on Me' hasn’t been overly remixed, in fact, this is the first remix since it hit the pop chart. Irresistible dancefloor action all round here, an essential Z Records release.

Dave Lee has tackled the legendary Latin flavoured Euro-Disco cut 'Que Tal America’ by Two Man Sound, originally released back '78.. We think the first ZR release of 2019 is a biggie. Brand new Joey Negro mixes of Bobby D’Ambrosio’s version of ‘Moment of My Life’. JN takes the song back to its original Inner Life disco boogie roots with live percussion, bass, guitar along with real hammond, piano and fender rhodes. 

The epic 10 minute ‘Closer To The Source Mix’ features the full song including Michele Weeks superb vocals over that classic piano riff, complete with jazzy finale. While the ‘Dub Re-Organisation’ starts off with a long building hammond solo before dropping into heavily verbed percussion and echoing vocals leaving the piano for the final third of the mix.  A sure fire floor filler and perfect for this disco moment of your life.

Another standout track from the recent Sunburst Band album is the boogiefied house cut ‘Definition of Luv’ featuring Diane Charlemagne. 

Rising star Sean McCabe once again comes through with a brilliant remix adding his trademark deep and soulful house sound using Diane’s vocals to great effect. His Main mix is one for the soulful house heads while his Definition of Dub goes a bit deeper and dubby.

As always Joey Negro turns in his own extended album mix and Dubstrumental stretching out the original making the most of the 80's style synth parts.
