You remember the time, where we tried to connect with Dial-up internet access?
This production use that sounds from the 90th and is an experiment with original chiptune sounds, also recorded with a 8 bit guitar modulation and analog effects.
A combination between analog machines and digital production makes the track rather varied.
The tune present the dimension between cyber communication sounds and frequencies.

Sentinel Sound presents Dancehall Foundation Vol. 4 – Digital Dancehall

Digital media, digital communication, digital currency - “Digital” is a word, that indicates innovation.
Therefore, it’s often used to describe the future of things.
However, in the Dancehall context it means pretty much the opposite:
Although current Dancehall, like most of the music nowadays, is produced digitally, “Digital Dancehall” stands for the style of Jamaican music, that was popular in the 80ies after the “Sleng Teng” riddim completely changed the aesthetics of Dancehall.
The studios, where until then bands like the Roots Radics produced the Riddimtracks for the vocalists, were now the playground for a new set of musical wizards like Steely and Cleevie who used keyboards and synthesizers instead of live musicians.
Fast forward to 2018:
The results of the creative explosion, caused by this generation change, are now the focus of the fourth edition of Sentinel’s Dancehall Foundation mixtape series.
47 tunes of raw energy and simple beauty, that give you a clue why the arrival of digital production technologies caused such an earthquake in the Jamaican music scene.

Dub Organiser was formed by the acclaimed Dave Hendley and Stu Tolhurst in Whitstable in 1998. When Dave passed in 2016, Stu was joined by Keith Lawrence and Queen Kaori to carry on the mighty Dub Organiser legacy. 

The crew share a passion and love for old school reggae in all its forms. From the production techniques, artists, songs, sound, trivia to the culture, they love it all! They play the very best in Ska, Rocksteady, early Reggae, Dub, Roots and Rub-a-Dub and bring straight up vibes to any session.

Catch them on the airwaves on The Dub Organiser Show, every second Wednesday of the month on Mi-soul.com, 11pm GMT. And check Keith on The Reggae Rock, every other Wednesday, 11pm GMT. And look out for them in session around the UK and Europe. BIG!

Dub Organiser Roots Mix for NiceUp

Oxman is an institution in the London reggae scene. Perhaps most well-known internationally for his work with the renowned Dub Vendor and Soul Jazz crews, Oxman has a long and deep history, from running his own sound, producing, record collecting, to hosting dances. Whether selecting or on the mic, he is one of the best in the game covering the full spectrum of all things reggae.

It all started at his mother’s South London blues parties, where young Oxman used to hijack the decks, while sound systems such as Soferno B and Untouchables were taking a break.

By 1981 it was time for him to have his own sound. He built Dill-Ox International, specialising in reggae but also encompassing soul, jazz, hip hop and RnB. He has provided rare tracks from his extensive collection for Soul Jazz and Pressure Sounds compilations, to name a few.

Oxman has worked on stations Kiss, Lightning and Vibes FM. He has played throughout the UK and Europe and toured Australia with Soul Jazz Sound System who he continues to select and MC for on a regular basis.

Check him every Wednesday, 8-10pm (UK) running the Soho Skank show on Soho Radio.
