After the feedback I got from the first old skool piano mix I did, I thought I'd do another one.
Again, it's an off the cuff mix of old skool piano house tunes that were big at the Earth nights in Manchester and Macclesfield.

Old Skool House Mix Volume 2

Goin' Waaaay Back !! (The Hazy Days Oldskool Mix 1)

I went through my record collection and picked out some of my favourite tunes from the mid 90s. These records are not on most of the 90s compilations / DJ mixes. There aren't necessarily 'rare' but they're less overplayed and are a good representation of UK dance floors from 93-96. I was going to club UK in Wandsworth a lot around this time and the records I bought from 93-96 were heavily influenced by that club. This mix has a tougher edge and lots of energy. Enjoy!

A bit different to the other Doved Up mixes, this one is full of just piano tunes from the early 90s, still from the softer side of old skool.  I've tried to not do this mix for a long time as the piano genre has been hammered to death, but here is my take on it anyway.  I've picked a selection of obvious and not-so-obvious stuff and there are a few mash ups and other bits and pieces to keep it interesting (Well hopefully!).

Doved up Volume 5!  This one almost didn't happen, my crossfader needs servicing again and has gone all stiff, so you may notice less of the cutting and more of the scratching!  Anyway, Doved up 5 is a bit of a Piano and Vocal special, I make no apologies for the content of this mix, there's some unashamedly pianoey stuff in there, from Italian piano screamers to plinky plonky vocal tracks.  This is the kind of stuff I used to play in the early 90s, but less so now as much of it has been hammered to death, but as the other Doved up mixes were quite popular, here's another.  The intro is a bit of a mess around with 3 decks, nothing too serious, beats, acapella and piano.  As always, I've tried to keep it interesting with loads of edits and other stuff, hopefully it'll work for you!

This is a set that I recorded myself at the closing party of Deja Vu / Helter Skelter in September 2003. It was a great year for Old Skool in Ibiza and Es Paradis was absolutely rammed ... This is my current live set for 2018, backing track produced and recorded at home, with the live pianos and synths played in one take, just as I do live. All the tracks have been built from scratch, sourcing original samples just as the originals did when they wrote the tracks, vocals are acapella samples, some beats are sampled loops, everything else is played and recorded from scratch.

The track selection is inspired by my days trolling around the Blackburn Warehouse parties, Monroes, Shelleys, Shaboo, Frenzy at Sequins, Bowlers and many a house party between 1988 and 1995. 50 tracks in 50 minutes. Value for Money.

Hope it takes you right back there for a bit. Gotta love the old skool. :) :)

Grimmy - Old Skool Anthems Mix - Feb 2019

Only ever recorded one side of this tape back in 1997/1998 ish when I had been mixing for a couple of months. It's possible I went blind halfway through which is why the B side never got done. Sadly no date written on it but quickly became known as "That Tape" when requested at afterparties.

Dedicated to my bestest clubbing buddies from those hazy mid nineties days in Birmingham doing the weekend rounds of TinTins, Bakers, The West End Bar, Decadence, Hype, Crunch, Wobble, S.L.A.G, The Steering Wheel, Miss Moneypennys, Bonds, Dusk Til Dawn, Lovesexy, Republica, Stoodi's, The Square, Subway, Peacocks, C.R.E.A.M, Chuff Chuff, Gatecrasher Bank Holidays @ Bakers etc etc etc... Eating on a Thursday and sleeping on a Tuesday never felt so good xxx
