My Thoughts:
So excited to release my very first single as a solo artist. The first single of Spit Unity Records, as well. This is the beginning of something very special and dear to me. Thanks for taking the time to listen and support. 

The Song:
Action is a song I wrote after coming out of a dark dark place in my life and marriage (Well at least the first verse was written in 2014). The song speaks to the hypocrisy and deep desire to people please in my own life. I was going through things and still feeling obligated to ACT as if everything was good. I realized how good I was at it and how it was rooted in a desire to be liked and esteemed by people. To ACT as if I had life but I reeked of death. So in light of the #Oscars being today. I thought I would drop this song. I hope you enjoy and can relate. Share with someone!

My Thoughts:
This song has been 8 years in the making in the sense that I have always wanted to create this for Rachel yet I wanted to have the creative ability to communicate it in a way that makes the ear grin. 

The Song:
This is the hardest I have ever worked on a song and I think it shows. I wanted to brag on my wife. I think often times it's taboo for believers to speak on the outward features of the person they love. Yet the reality is I am attracted to every feature inward and outward. Also I think I wanted to highlight the fact that I need Rachel, not a lot men do that.

She Mine (Rachel's Song)

My Thoughts:
One of the most dearest songs to me. This and "She Mine" I hold very close to my heart. Every bar, the hook, and bridge all do something to me emotionally. These words come from a real place! 

The Song:
The words literally just flew out. I think I wrote the song in about an hour total. That's hook, verses, and bridge. I got choked up several times through the writing and recording process. I kept it all in the track as well. Also I love the fact that I got to have my daughter on the track saying "I love you daddy". Also I hit on some things in this track not a lot of people close to me know no about. One being molestation. I hope to be able to unpack that more in the future. Not something African Americans talk about, Americans in general fail to talk about it. Yet it is a reality.  Also to unpack forgiveness a lot on this track was necessary. Lastly, I love you Daddy

My Thoughts:
I had the opportunity to write for my church as we are gearing up for Resurrection Sunday. A group of us were ask to do some creative meditations for the Holy Week. We were all given the 7 last things that Christ said from the Cross. I got  "Today you will be with me in paradise". 
The Song:
I wrote from a dual perspective of the criminal and myself. I love the hook!
 "I'm the Prince of thieves, Loved by the KING of kings..."  
The song came in spurts and the hook came in one sitting. It was a little hard to get the melody locked and timing right. I think it came out really well. I hope ppl hear this and are pushed to love Jesus more! We are that criminal in desperate need of grace and savior.
