We are very happy to share our latest podcast from one of our favourite DJs - FROND. 

We are a great admirer of FROND's work, both as an DJ across the UK's subterranean/swampy rave scene, and through her precise production style, displayed in her recent People & Places release. We also have v fond memories of her masterful set at Bakk Heia last year, where she gracefully tunnelled through the gears towards collective joyful chaos.

This mix is a reflection of FROND's ability to toe the line between driving body movers, and euphoria inducing tear grabbers. It's a powerful combination, and one that drives straight to the heart. <3

Bakk Heia Podcast 004 - FROND

look much bigger than usual, and I feel as if I were lost in a world of immensity. It's very dark
with no sky up above, like being in the depths of the Earth. Anyway, it's a world I know.”

For schuttle’s next unearthly contribution, we invite you to slip into the reassuring comforts of the
simulated realm. Herein lies an open invitation to all of those tentative travellers willing to join us
as we revel in four slices of post-biological optimism.

The world building begins with 'Splan'. schuttle’s navigation vessel hovers steadily above a
fractal landscape until a divine arp propels us skywards. We burst through the latent
cloudsphere to marvel at the boundless synergy of the interlocking polygons. The sunburst
gradient barely has time to load before an oscillating wriggle plunges us into a strangely familiar
stomping ground. Hedonistic NPCs begin spawning at random, splurging joyful machine funk at
each other before walking gleefully into walls. Finally, with a little help from a well known toad,
schuttle unleashes the full might of his Mana on the nascent gathering.

We dock next in ‘Melonweed Musick’. Our vessel gently stirring the reeds as we descend into
the marshland. The potent aroma of the swamp fills our nostrils, various apparitions seem to
wriggle into view. What have we been inhaling? No time to consider, the loose murk of the
breakbeat is starting to take effect and it’s all we can do to keep one foot squelching after the
other. As we submit wholeheartedly to the sheer depth and clarity of the bassline, a kindly angel
sweeps above the sphagnum, spraying a succession of cleansing chords over our slimy bodies.
Refreshed with some useful navigation advice we continue.

In ‘Kitchen Sync’ our craft’s speedometer is tickled up to a cruising 120bpm. The world outside
our window begins to swim with colour, prickly forms materialise then dissipate around us. The
familiar shape of our old friend, the high priest 303 appears before us, steadying the ship. Its
resonant flame warming our hearth, and our hearts too. Then begins a beautiful communion of
the domestic and the otherworldly, through the interplay of acid under glimmering keys.
Provoking within us an uncontrollable desire to open our curtains, to cast off our slippers and
embrace the infinite morrow.

Our voyage concludes with ‘Inspo 2000’. Scintillating landing lights guide us toward our
destination, our descent beckoned by woody and playful percussion. We tumble through the
troposphere, our landing cushioned by the buoyancy of the gated chords, the kicks juicing
what's left of our dwindling fuel supply. A luxurious breakdown brings the ground into focus.
Perhaps this is home? The simulation is now so accurate that it seems pointless to question it, it
is a world we have always known.

Bill Banks - Promo Mix July 2025

For our next instalment we draw from our own fertile waters. This time with a two hour recording from Bakk Heia resident and label partner schuttle. 

Schuttle has been a resident DJ and sporadic guest of the Bakk Heia parties since their inception. In fact he played our very first party in TWH nearly 10 years ago, at a time when the sky lights were yet to be covered and day light would filter unashamedly over the dancers as the sun rose. It came to our attention that since that set, schuttle hadn’t set forth on a solo flight, so it seemed high time for him to spread his tentacles over the closing hours. 

Through this mix schuttle channels the seething energy that is only possible during those final hours. The part timers have left, the room is totally locked in and the allure of chaos is strong. As such, it invites the dancer to delve a little deeper, perfectly navigating the dark into light. Often hypnotic and tunnelling, sometimes euphoric, sometimes explosive, but always directly from the heart. It was a truly beautiful experience to witness such a concise and coherent artistic expression from someone who understands, on a fundamental level, the power these hours can have, and what they mean to us. 

As the lights came on at 7am, there was palpable outpouring of love. The closing moments evoke that beautiful feeling of returning somewhere familiar. Wrapped together in euphoric joy.

Bakk Heia Podcast 005 - schuttle (Live from Bakk Heia @ TWH)

It is our pleasure to share our latest podcast, this time from Full Circle’s Alexis Le-Tan.  The mix is a live recording taken from Bakk Heia at The White Hotel earlier this year. Alexis began playing around 3am, just as the club had reached capacity. Energy that was simmering under the surface began to be released, the initial hustle and bustle was over and people had found their place on the floor. As such, this mix expertly demonstrates Alexis’ ability to hook dancers in, giving them a playful push before engaging them into full mind melt mode. Starting with genre defying mid-tempo dubby sludgery, it moves into angular strains of new beat adjecent trancers before unleashing the Goa dragons on the rapturous mass of entranced bodies.

Bakk Heia Podcast 006 - Alexis Le-Tan (Live from Bakk Heia @ The White Hotel)

*RELEASING 25th OCTOBER 2025*

For our ninth offering we have ventured out of our small but fertile swamp in search of another source of magick. Meandering across boggy pastures new, we crossed paths with Steevio, who sat hovering serenely in the fern covered shade of a nearby valley. Instantly recognising the singular vision of this fabled artist, we hastily gathered our nets and cast them under Steevio’s branches, capturing four beautiful offerings as they wriggled towards us. Upon the return to our mulch, it became clear that we could not contain Steevio’s creations, so wilful was their vitality. It was therefore all we could do to release them back to the universal dance from whence they came.

The dance germinates with the writhing polyrhythmic ‘Apricity’. Hearing the crunch of frost laden grass beneath our webbed toes, we look above us to search for the sun. Angular beams of light escape over the horizon, as the warmth of Steevio’s machines coalesce. A glistening hi hat breaks through the membrane to bind his creation and anchor its ever shifting arms.

‘Octopus’ glides gracefully through a sun-dappled kelp forest. Sub frequencies rumble up from the shadowy darkness below, rippling along the fronds as they ascend. As the ocean begins to churn, a wriggling melodic tentacle parts the foliage, gleaming with primordial energy. Its joyful visit to the surface realm leaves us with a brief yet powerful reminder of the mystery beneath.

The glow of the midwinter sun warms our bones on ‘Apricity (Sunrise Mix)’. Percussive elements bubble out of the depths, forming intricate cascading patterns as they grow over the perfectly formed kicks. The moog filter tames the brew with Steevio’s intuitive restraint, until he releases its mighty power upon the gleeful forest dwellers, to their rapturous gratitude.

With ‘Adref’ we return home. The sedate tempo provides oceanic space for a melody which inhales and exhales over a familiar landscape of perfectly tuned percussion. With each breath the melody seems to increase its reach, until it’s buried deep within our bones, its memory resonating on long after it’s gone.

Steevio’s music reflects the universal moments where seemingly chaotic and disparate elements are suddenly revealed to be perfectly harmonious. Of course examples of this are always universally present in nature, and have been eternally, but we have to be reminded to appreciate them. In the same way that a wave deposits a perfect line of shells on a beach, dew freezes on grass, or individual strands of mycelial hyphae bind together to form incredible patterns, Steevio’s music is likewise; effortlessly considered. For us, it has more in common with the unrelenting flow of a river than it does with dance music. It is psychedelic music in the same sense that nature is intuitively psychedelic; without ever leaning into any tried tropes of what is culturally considered ‘psychedelic’ music.
