Here's the single from the 21st Birthday Edition of my first album Port - a new version of Fire Escape.

I thought it would be nice to re-record a couple of the songs with full arrangements. Fire Escape I think is the best song on the album so I set about making it my first proper home recording. You can even watch the video clip here (it might help you cook dinner).

The first demo of In Goulburn recorded to cassette, soon after it was written, in Pat Lyons' lounge room. That's Pat on the electric and slide guitar. The lyrics changed a bit over the years. Thirty-year-old cassette quality audio.

Written 1990. Set in Belmore Basin, Wollongong.

Written 1995. Set in Wollongong. About a friend and not, as one reviewer suggested, about me.

Written in 1995. A night out in Wollongong never sound so good, right?

Written in 1992. A 20th century sea shanty for Port Kembla.

The Merchant Navy

Fire Escape

Written in 1994. Set on Platform 19 at Central Station in Sydney, where trains from the affluent North Shore begin their journey to the less affluent Western Suburbs. The divide only seems to get wider.

North Shore Girls Get Off

Written in 1987. Set in Goulburn jail. Inspired by playwright Jim McNeil.

Written in 1996. Ye olde Wollongong drinking song.

Slow Death

Written in 1995, on Post-It notes in the office at work. Set on and off rugby league fields everywhere.

My Body On The Line

Written in 1991. Set in the waters off South Australia. About male delusions of virility.
