For the second year in a row, I covered an old favorite as a Christmas gift to my godchildren. My girlfriend claims this song is probably about drugs, and it probably is, but it also felt apt as a song of guidance about life to young souls.

David Call - Learning To Fly

After purchasing a new sample pack designed by Matt Lange for Waves Alchemy, I was fiddling around with some of the new percussion samples and came up with the basis for this track.  I loved the tom drums and the groove they provided, but just for curiosity's sake I wanted an old-school Daft Punk type warpy bass line.  I ended up using both, but filtered out the actual bass from the warped bass patch I'd created, leaving the toms to drive the low end.  After several failed attempts at a breakdown that made sense, and inspired by "Yin" from Wolfgang Gartner and Francis Preve, I wanted a tonal but seemingly non-musical lead and I feel like I was able to create that.

Given that I wanted to create something that inspired brooding and intimate feelings at a club, at the suggestion of a friend, I titled this song "Con Lussuria" which is an Italian phrase meaning "lustfully."  It seemed most appropriate.

Here, Mark had remixed a classic track "Belfast Child" by Scottish supergroup Simple Minds of "Don't You (Forget About Me)" fame.  Clearing the original vocal would have been a chore, so Mark asked me to step in and have a go.  Clearly it worked, because here I am in all my Celtic glory, haha.  Enjoy!

Cheeky and fun, I really tried to take the sexiness and mood of the original song, and enhance that, not destroy it, by speeding up the original and layering in what I felt it needed for club play.  My favorite production so far (though not the best).  Receives incredible response every time I drop it (which is often, and usually at the end of a set).  *free download*

After numerous plays of a few of my tracks on his "Solaris International" radio show, Rich "Solarstone" Mowatt asked me to remix an odd tune he'd just picked up.  He told me to take the best bits of vocal and make a completely different song out of them.  I did so, and a year and a half later, here it is for your ears.  I sincerely hope you like the mood, because I love it :)

When trying to come up with a Christmas gift for my godchildren, born this year (2020), it was suggested I cover a song, maybe "Yesterday" from The Beatles. I thought "Let It Be" was more my style and appropriate, so I ignored my family for large parts of a week, and this is the result. I hope you find it as calming, beautiful, and peaceful as I do. We could all remember to "let it be" after the years of tension, hate, and fighting we've had. Sending you my love <3
