A Dream literally came out of a dream I was having. I had gone to bed reflecting upon the troubles in Northern Ireland and had just read the "I have a dream" speech by MLK. The next morning I woke up and wrote the song. 
Like most of the best songs for me it was on paper in no time. It came through effortlessly with minimal thinking involved. It felt like it had been written in my sleep.
