Kiirtan is the practice of chanting the names of God and originated in the Rahr region of India in ancient times. Shrii Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486 – 1534) was instrumental in giving Kiirtan the wide popularity it now enjoys.  He also popularized singing Kiirtan while performing the "Lalita Marmika" dance, which is done with the hands raised overhead to symbolize self surrender to the Supreme Consciousness that permeates the Universe and beyond.

"Baba Nam Kevalam" is a Kiirtan mantra given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in 1970.  Baba means "my most beloved One", Nam means "name of" or "to surrender" and Kevalam means "only".   While singing and dancing the feeling should be "I surrender to my most Beloved Entity" 

The idea is that everything is a manifestation of Pure Consciousness and everywhere my senses can reach, I perceive That one Supreme Consciousness which pervades all things.  Love is all there is.
