The Lizard Mixture is keeping the spirit of the early 80’s alive for a new generation.  The passion project of singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist David Hudson Ford, The Lizard Mixture utilizes all the hallmarks of the era, including huge melodic hooks, hypnotic synth melodies, and stadium-sized gated drum beats.  But it is more than just an exercise in nostalgia - these songs reinvent classic sounds to fit perfectly into our modern, technologically-driven world.  

From his childhood in Illinois to his professional stint in Munich, David has taken a long and unconventional road in life.  He spent most of the 90’s touring the midwest with various bands to varying degrees of success before a lucrative tech job led him to Germany.  But music was never far from his mind.

During the lockdown year, David, like everyone else, found himself with too much time on his hands.  He decided to make the most of it, and began utilizing remote recording technology to make the records he had always wanted to make.  He assembled a team of International players including musicians from England, Italy, Ukraine, and Brazil.  Together, they started work on the sleek and charming songs that would become The Lizard Mixture’s first releases.

The Lizard Mixture’s first full length release is a love letter to David’s early favorites - acts like Duran Duran, The Cure, and Tears For Fears.  But upon closer listen, he brings his own distinctive voice to his retro compositions.  These songs are meant to keep the thrill of that era alive.  The Lizard Mixture’s music may not be for everyone, but for 80’s devotees, their music will be a revelation.
