A song the man who picks your blueberries - and how you never really know the effects of your actions.

Lyrics:

Deep in the woods
Where the blueberries grow
There lives an old man
That nobody knows

Out in the country
There’s a family of five
Eating pancakes for breakfast
With his blueberries inside

But they don’t know about the Blueberry Man
They just eat his berries as much as they can
If only he knew all the joy that it brings
He would be happy

Down in the city
Is a girl on the road
It’s early morning
But she’s got nowhere to go

Inside her pocket
Are some dollars and change
And a bag of blueberries
That somebody gave

But she doesn’t know about the man in the woods

Gentle Heart

This song was based on a songwriting exercise at the Songwriters in Seattle FAWM meeting. We had to find a picture in a magazine and write a song about it. This was the picture of an astronaut who spent two missions in space. She looked a little lonely and sad, so I started to think about an astronaut who misses the earth.

The earth it turns so fast upon the sky
It reminds me that we have so little time
And the sun, if you could see, the way it shines upon the sea
Makes me want to spend my life by your side

in this cabin that’s airtight
is so hard to breath

I miss the flowers and the trees
the way that mud sticks to my feet

We take our gravity for granted everyday
the way our tears fall to our cheeks and fly away
Up here the colors are so bright, everything floats like butterflies

Homesick Above

I see this as the opening number of a musical I'm thinking about. The theme of the musical is about nature, and all the ways it gets humans and other living things to reproduce. In this scene we meet the main character, learn about the questions he's asking himself, and that he also has a girlfriend.
