For eleven years already, Fenou has been a synonym for a stylish sound between harmonious electronica and swinging minimal electro. The small but fine sub-division of the well-known Mo's Ferry Productions has created an entirely own niche within the international club scene. Since 2010 the „Fenou Bouquet“ compilations have also established themselves as a representative overview of the multifaceted work of the Berlin-based talent factory. After the previous parts have been compiled by fantastic music selectors such as Marcel Knopf, Dapayk and Douglas Greed, the Leipzig-based musician and producer Stefan Streck aka The Micronaut is responsible for Vol.4. Welcome to „Fenou Bouquet Vol.4 by The Micronaut“!

The Micronaut already left his mark on the last „Fenou Bouquet“ compilation with his track called „Two Lovers“. After the Leipzig-based artist has already released three longplayer elsewhere and rocked the floors at festivals such as the Fusion, the Dutch Eurosonic or Tallinn Music Week, The Micronaut now proudly presents himself as one of the most exciting and promising newcomers on Fenou! Just like the previous „Fenou Bouquet“ releases, Vol.4 kept the conceptual idea to provide a rousing mix of new exclusive tracks, remixes and carefully selected material from the extensive Fenou-Rooster. Although for the first time there is a non-Fenou title that found its way on Vol.4: „Rockit“ by Greeko originally published on Mo's Ferry.

Although the mixture of „Fenou Bouquet Vol.4 by The Micronaut“ is as diverse as the artists themselves, there is a recurring theme: „I wanted to tell a story with the compilation of these tracks,“ said the Micronaut describing this handpicked composition of Vol.4. The compilation represents the likes and dislikes of this Thirty-something guy from Saxony, who also produces soundtracks and image films for various companies. „I like blue, tragic, epic tracks. Tracks that stimulate the inner eye and create images. Tunes that are simply danceable, would be too dull for me.“ And so The Micronaut presents not only The Magician & The Scientist, From Karaoke To Stardom but also Interelektrika and Zaquoir. „I want to take people on a trip.“ A journey that begins with the opener by Martin Kohlstedt and slowly but steady continues to build. „‚Am‘ is a great way to get in the mood. It is also very interesting to hear the interplay of beat and harmony in Lake Powel's ‚Bright Eyes, Dirty Hair (Acid Pauli & NU Remix)‘ while Dapayk's remix of Mooryc ‚Simply‘ pushes forward with high intensity. This dancefloor steamroller is really very out of character, but represents an important contrast to the mood of the entire track list.“

The emotional, cosmic sound of Drahte makes its debut on Loot Recordings with a four track EP of deep, melodic techno that includes a powerhouse remix by Rafael Cerato.

Drahte are an electronic duo based in Naples who don’t say much, but instead like to offer you a trip in a musical form. Their infectious, deep, beautiful sound is from the heart and makes an emotional impact. 

The title track “Virgo” is a dramatic and rolling tech cut with heavy drums. The synth work adds a sombre vibe and the chords gently roll up and down the scale, hooking you from the start. The Rafael Cerato remix is a stripped-down version and takes on a more driving and deep vibe. Lovely wooden hits help power things along, as do some muffled vocals, but it’s the emotive strings and moody synth leads that own the show here.

“Two Stars” is a turbulent track with edgy chords that pan throughout the track, with heavy drums, crisp claps and a real melodic arrangement that adds to the dynamism of the track. Closing the EP is “Cosmo” that’s atmospheric and deep, sprinkled with spaced out keys, chaotic chords and intriguing breakdowns.

Our favourite west coast space rock band "Woolfy vs. Projections", or "the Hall and Oates of the dance world" (XLR8R) are back for good. "Set Me Loose" is the first single from their 2012 album "The Return Of Love" , which with its proper songwriting, dreamy atmosphere and psychedelic character became an essential listening delight for all kind of Balearic types over the past summer. "Set Me Loose" is the perfect example for W vs. P unique blend of electronic and acoustic instrumentation and the natural haziness that lives in their music. This makes it a perfect match for Swiss legend Lexx (you have to check out his contribution to the ' originals ' series on Claremont 56), who offers the first remix here. Lexx does what Lexx does best adding a good portion of Excotica, tropical drumming and a certain dubbyness to the original making it a winner on the late night floor. 

The Drifter, who had a busy year with setting up his own label Maeve, which he runs with his lads Mano Le Tough and Baikal and with releasing his debut ep on Permanent Vacation in late 2012, comes correct with a hypno house version of "Set Me Loose". He leaves out most of the original's Balearic feeling and adds a punchy kick and an acidy bassline to get it in shape for the more housy floors. 

Last but not least in this delicate triumvirate of remixes is El_Txef_A from Bilbao, Spain. Aitor Etxebarria turned quite some heads with his last year's debut album "slow dancing in a burning room" and the mixture of contemporary club music and classic pop elements. He stays close to the original, stripping it down to the basic elements of the groove and the vocals before half way through of the remix an arpeggiated synth appears and introduces the 4/4 bass drum for the second half.

Back once again here is the most fabulous... Rampue! Being referred to as one of the most promising production talents and the undisputed master of the new Romantic House movement taking over todays dancefloors our man from Berlin caters his next four piece EP under the innocence-craving name of „Lets Be Kids Again“.

Starting off with the sound of looped, campfire'esque and folk-referring guitars on top of tricky, stuttering beats the opening track „Never“ is causing a bit of confusion before transforming into the most soft-skinned piece of SlowHouse one has ever come across, featuring the most tender and fracturable female voice sampled in the history of electronic music. This one's neither a track or a song – this one's nothing but pure audio love.

Coming up next is „Sometimes“ with it's deep ambient'ish intro built of layered minor strings and a few shakers which turns into a slowly pumping DiscoFunk excess serving all ingredients for being what's to be called a late night ladies tune. Seductive vocals? Check. Chicago-referring basslines? Check. Background vocoders? Check. A groove that's hell of sexy? Double check. This one's as brilliant as Daft Punk's debut album for sure.

The title track „Lets Be Kids Again“ is on a more dancefloor demanding tip with ever echo'ing sounds, pumping drums and a special clap drive perfectly corresponding with flickering, slightly balearic guitars, tweedling violins and sweet, melancholia-infused vocals singing praise of golden childhood memories.
Finally we have „Colour Back“ which is to be referred to as the next piano driven future classic. More fragile vocals meet very unique and creative filter techniques here, hosting a thrilling scifi synth line that seems to be sprung from the ItaloDisco heydays, perfectly contrasting the organic backing with its cold and artifical vibe.
