DA PURGA AO MARFIM - Modern Circus Show

“Among lives and wreckage we find traces of memories. Death dances among the fields and bodies resist among stones and losses. Through circus, the show “Da Purga ao Marfim” explores an abstract universe inspired by the atmosphere of conflict zones.
People in the future always return to the past.”

Show included in the project “Panorama - Protagonizing New Risks in Contemporary Circus”, financed by the Partis & Art for Change program, an initiative Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and La Caixa Foundation, with the support of the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão and in partnership with institutions that develop activities with people with disabilities.

Creative process of this Soundtrack:

- The starting point was the actuality of the conflict zones we see every day in the news.

- As an heavy and controverse theme, i tried to bring the drama and anxiety of the environment of these areas, with a soft and random caracter, to relief the drama and help the actors deal with it better.

- atmospheric and atonal tracks, mixed with rhythmic and "happy" tracks

- a melancholic and comforting track to contrast with a "violent scene" where a gun was the main prop.

- Some tracks where made with the video of the scene.

- Other tracks were made without video (imaginary scene) and then adapted to the real scene.

David Longoria features the voices of LA Opera soloist Diana Tash with AJ Teshin in this fun and festive song celebrating the day! Purcell wrote the original piece for the birthday of the Queen and it's been used ever since to inspire fun and frolic for celebration. Theory of Circular Dynamics (Piano Version)

“January Eleven” was composed on January 11, 2025, while devastating fires were raging near the Los Angeles area. On that day, a displaced family found refuge in my home, their spirits unwavering despite uncertain circumstances. Their optimism stood in stark contrast to the looming threat of the flames, reminding me how quickly our comforts can slip away. This neoclassical solo piano piece channels the turmoil into a soothing, reflective sound, evoking both the fragility of our possessions and the strength of a community that unites in times of crisis. It’s a testament to resilience, hope, and the power of compassion.
