For their fifth release on their own label Around Midnight, French duo Chambord entrusted both Fate and Friendship : this new “Fortune Teller” EP can be read like palm lines where 3 originals are craftily intertwined with 3 remixes.

Chambord’s long-term friendship with French DJ and producer Roze allowed them to develop a slightly different sound thread running through the whole EP : mystical beats support organic guitars and/or piano anthems which act as the main characters of the story. The remix of each track can be then heard as a sequel, with its own color and dramatic touch.

“Fortune Teller” sets the tone with its ascending and mesmerizing beats, while the guitar pinches drop like touches of sunlight on a peaceful sea of piano notes.
On Valentin Huedo’s version one can sense his Ibiza touch thanks to the addition of diffracted vocals and the strengthening of the baseline that turn the track into an essential club anthem.

“The Alchemist” puts the drums forward with a “bonfire” vibe that is heightened by tribe vocals. In contrast, the light electronic tunes bring a sense of togetherness : a sound formula that rises high into the night sky.
In Wahm’s lively remix, the psychedelic aspect of the track is enhanced with a thrilling combination of higher pitches and electric guitar, reminders of the roaring scene of Casablanca, Wahm’s native city.

“Merlin Diviner” embarks us on a soulful journey with its warm baseline mixed with solar guitar touches and ascending keyboards effects inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. For his second collaboration with Chambord, Dandara throws a dark yet enchanting touch to the track by using deeper beats that make the guitar part shine even more, thereby tracing a stellar pathway to any club or festival.

With its mystic yet joyful musical storyline, no doubt that “Fortune Teller” will put a spell on your ears and your heart thanks to its enchanting diversity.

PRIMAL

Primal is an Icelandic electronic music producer and Dj based in Copenhagen.
The past few years, Primal has been involved with an electronic music project by the name of Kúra, featuring the Icelandic singer Fanney Osk.

Kúra, which became a widely recognized electronic act in northern Europe, offered an opportunity to explore new areas, ideas and genres. 
He eventually got introduced to the underground techno society by Just This crew.

Primal was then inspired to evolve his soundscape in new directions, resulting in a previously unexplored, darker universe with hypnotizing melancholic rhythms and heavy bass-lines.
The man behind Primal, Brynjar Bjarnfoss, was born in Reykjavík, Iceland where spent his early childhood years.

Since moving to Copenhagen at an early age, the music was always on the agenda. As a young adult he quickly got recognition in the Copenhagen underground electronic scene. He rapidly became a re-occurring act at various well renowned events, such as; Roskilde Festival, Distortion, Stella Polaris, STRØM and numerous clubs across Europe. He is currently featured as a newly implemented act of the Milano based Just This movement, and has recently cofounded the Just This record label.

The days are longer and lighter already and that can only mean one thing. Summer is on its way…
 
Lee Burridge and Lost Desert return with sunshine days in mind on their ‘Loopyness’ EP.  An apt description indeed for the title track. Its infectious groove rolls forward, making you want to get up and wiggle your hips; this track has funk. A live guitar lifts the track halfway through, as stuttered vocals and string-like synth lines take you away to other worlds. 
 
Over on the other side of the vinyl (or track two for digital fans) is ‘Botanic’. Another summer daze; groovy, light and airy with a slinky fat bassline and a warm breakdown. Music to close your eyes and drift away to, this track has been a firm favourite on All Day I Dream dance floors since last summer. 
 
The EP comes to a close with ‘12CC’. A dubbier groove underpins the whole affair while glass-like melodies and laid back synths sway back and forth. It’s a patient groover that rewards those who take the ride.
