The song started as a twelve bar blues section, which now occupies two "verses." It started as nothing but chords. I sliced and diced and it became a fairly strong bass line, inspired by a lot of Robert Prince's DOOM soundtrack as well as Black Sabbath and Slayer. It doesn't sound like that but that's where some of the rhythms owe their parentage.

The melody came organically but not intentionally. I played for a half hour and, giving up, did a little flourish instead of the usual pound the keys and grumble. That flourish is the end of the two verses.

I haven't shared the lyrics yet and I've reached out to a vocalist in Belarus, which fits give that the story is a retelling of a strained relationship between parent and child, as well as of Baba Yaga. The first two words are bone mother, so there's quite a bit of macabre imagery.

It's not quite metal but it owes a lot to metal in its approach to folklore and bass sections.
