(Monastery of Moonlight) is on the shore of the Pateriça peninsula on the northern side of Cunda Island. Seventeenth-century monks erected the monastery with the permission of the Ottoman sultan and it has lived a colorful history under Ottoman, Greek, and Turkish rule.

GRAMMY-nominated electronic trio Above & Beyond present the 16th edition of the iconic Volume series, arriving July 22 on their Anjunabeats imprint.

Featuring 33 tracks over two discs, Anjunabeats Volume 16 features exclusive new music from 30+ artists, both fresh and familiar to Anjunabeats fans. Sketched on the road and in Jono, Tony and Paavo's London studio over the past year, this new mixed compilation showcases the direction of Anjunabeats over the next 18 months.

Label stalwarts ilan Bluestone, Andrew Bayer, Gabriel & Dresden, Genix, Oliver Smith, Sunny Lax and Maor Levi all contribute. Ilan's first outing after the release of his album ‘Impulse’ is an exquisite rolling groover with BT, 'Run'. Andrew Bayer returns with not one but two albums this summer, each side reflecting the ‘Duality’ of his art – ‘On Tape’ is Bayer’s contribution to Volume 16 and it demands to be played as loud as possible. 

Some experienced veterans make their Anjuna debut: there’s a contribution from Conjure One and Sinéad O'Connor (infamous for ‘Tears From The Moon’), while legendary house-head Fred Falke is on remix duty, adding an extra French touch to Mat Zo and OLAN's 'Colours' from Mat's 'Illusion of Depth' album.



Five graduates of the Rising EP series also feature, plus a handful of up-and-comers including ANUQRAM, anamē and Simon Gregory. The captivating Kasablanca also have their first Volume outing, fresh off their stunning 'Immunity EP' and a remix of Above & Beyond's 'Black Room Boy'.

And that brings the story back to A&B’s Hello Studios in Bermondsey. Four of the records debuted at ABGT450 last year feature on Volume 16, although two now take an entirely different direction. ‘Screwdriver’ has received a deeper treatment from Jono, while Oliver Smith reworks ‘Gratitude’. ‘Projection’, an ID from their ABGT450 set, has been tweaked and tightened on the road over the last few months, as has ‘Chains’ featuring Marty Longstaff. Plus, two excursions from A&B operations: there's a contribution from Jono's brand new project with Darren Tate, JODA (retouched by PROFF), and Paavo's resurrected P.O.S alias.

A new era begins for ALPHA 9 with 'Calling', a collaboration featuring Brazilian DJ and producer Scorz and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Tom Bailey.

Artem Stolyarov. Whether he's ARTY or ALPHA 9, he's always been sensational. Artem first arrived on Anjuna's radar in 2010. What followed was a stellar run under his ARTY alias: 'Rush', 'Zara', 'Around The World', 'Rebound' and 'Kate' are Anjunabeats classics, and helped define the sound of the label in the early 2010s.

Artem's ALPHA 9 alias is where he has found his stride in recent years. Focusing on the progressive trance that he fell in love with as a teenager, some of Artem's standout moments as ALPHA 9 include 'Before The Dawn', 'Stellar', 'Skin', and his faithful update of Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston’s evergreen classic ‘Good For Me’.

ALPHA 9's energetic sets have been heard at Steel Yard, Dreamstate, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Ushuaïa, Amnesia Ibiza, and Creamfields, winning him millions of fans worldwide. 

To begin the next chapter in the ALPHA 9 story, Artem has enlisted two collaborators on 'Calling': Scorz and Tom Bailey.

With over 380k monthly listeners on Spotify, Scorz's melodic, upbeat tracks push musical boundaries and transcend genres. This is the Brazilian artist’s first time collaborating with ALPHA 9.

Musically speaking, there’s not much Tom Bailey can’t do. He’s a multi-instrumentalist producer, writer and performer, and a graduate of the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. Some might recognise him from his You Tube channel – he’s the founder and creator of Tom Bailey Backing Tracks which offers backing tracks to aspiring writers, singers and jammers. Bailey has been credited on dozens of songs across multiple genres.

‘Calling’ is only the start of a whole new chapter for ALPHA 9. Expect to hear much more over the coming months, and more new material in his set at Above & Beyond's sold out Group Therapy 500 celebrations in Los Angeles. Fans can tune in to watch via Above & Beyond's Twitch and YouTube.

Acclaimed electronic duo Kasablanca return to Anjunabeats with 'Dream About You'.

This enigmatic melodic techno duo exploded onto the scene in summer 2020 with their Lane 8 collaboration, 'Run', a bonafide hit for both artists. As of October 2022, it’s been streamed over 22 million times on Spotify and charted at #1 on SiriusXM BPM. ‘Run’ was followed by their debut album 'Human Learning', and a standout collaboration with Bob Moses, 'Afterglow'. They've enjoyed extensive support on their releases from Vintage Culture, The Chainsmokers, Above & Beyond, Pete Tong, Don Diablo, Oliver Heldens, and many more.

In December 2021, they joined us at Anjunabeats, remixing Above & Beyond's 'Black Room Boy' as part of the '10 Years of Group Therapy' celebrations. Their first original music on the label arrived soon after: the three-track 'Immunity EP' was released in March 2022. The title track ‘Immunity’ was playlisted on Diplo’s Revolution station on Sirius XM, and was described as “a sleekly propulsive slice of melodic techno” by Billboard. Their latest offering 'Dream About You' was premiered by Above & Beyond on their Anjunabeats Volume 16 mix compilation in July 2022.

The duo debuted their live show, replete with racks of modular synthesisers, at Red Rocks Amphitheater in September 2021 while supporting US bass superstar Rezz. They've thrilled crowds across the globe, including at our Group Therapy Weekender festival at Dockyards London - their first-ever UK headline show. Kasablanca are currently on tour with deadmau5 and NERO, visiting San Francisco, Austin and Boston over the coming months with some massive shows locked in for 2023.

The first of several new releases to come from this intriguing act on Anjunabeats, 'Dream About You' is out now.
