With this submission I aimed to create something very different from the composition that was the genesis of this piece, Destiny's Door by Hans Zimmer. I transformed the main melody from majestic and triumphant to something unsettling and foreboding. For this scene I imagine the characters faced with an epic fight or battle which leads to a moment of suspenseful repose and then finally to the promise of future conflict. I hope you enjoy.!

Fight or Flight - Bleeding Fingers Contest

For this submission I decided to scale it down and do a solo classical piano take on the melody from Destiny's Door by Hans Zimmer. The main melody is played in the first section as a highly embellished variation over a strong minor waltz feel. In the second section the melody is again represented but with long sustained notes over a flowing major sound. I wanted to do something scaled down after listening to many of the competition submissions. While they all sound great, they're all very layered and huge sounding. Sometimes simple is more effective and I hope i represented that here. :D

Lonely Waltz - Bleeding Fingers Contest

For this submission I decided to use the Destiny's Door melody again in a completely different way, making it serene and comforting. I choose a synth instrument that I designed to be the melodic voice. It's a homage to my favorite electronic instrument the Ondes Martenot. Also, I used the main rhythm motif from Destiny's Door in the celeste part, the upper voice playing the rhythm twice as fast as the lower voice(good luck picking that out, but it's a fun fact!). So here's another submission! This time I envisioned our characters travelling through a parched desert in a time long ago. The mood is one of a labored march over vast empty spaces..I once again used the trumpet melody stem, but only as a counter melody. Sincerely hope it's enjoyed.!

Desert Crossing - Bleeding Fingers Contest

For this submission I wanted to create something comical. The source music, Destiny's Door, is anything but. So, I took a small sample and ran with it. I used the tubular bell that is the last note in DD from the piano/bells track. This doesn't seem like much information to work with, but it completely informed the direction of Fat Clockwork Soldiers. In this scene I imagine small metal soldiers run by gears. They're doing a day's work as the bell dictates. The only thing is, they've all gotten fat, so it's humorous to see them do their duty. Hope this one cracks some smiles..! :D

For this track, I wanted to do something completely unlike the rest of my submissions..So i designed a bunch of synths and made some beats. I used the piano/bells and choir stems. They are both processed in various ways...The mood here is definitely dark. Sometimes that's a good thing. :D
