Hot on the heels of his highly anticipated return “Estranged” featuring LaMeduza, the West Country born/London-based Rockwell passes the mic to Lewisham-born and bred MC Novelist for his second single of the year, “Peak”. An atmospheric and ominous introduction, this club banger is defined by cheeky synth stabs and harmonic variations, increasing the intensity of the track as it progresses whilst providing the perfect sonic texture for Novelist to lay down his inimitable quick-fire bars - hitting at the government for the country's current state of affairs. A pertinent and “of the times” socio-political battle cry, Novelist raps “The price of everything is going up, I’ve had to add another zero to my fee I’ve had enough… the government don’t care about a thing, they don’t want to see or hear a brother win” whilst distant sample chimes in “The general public in this country know they are being mugged”.

“With a couple of my more recent productions, I’ve been trying to strip things back, taking a more considered approach to adding elements and ensuring that everything that makes the cut is integral to the track. I struggle to articulate how much of an honour for me it is to collaborate with Novelist on ‘Peak’, and from the recording session we did, the bars mirrored the instrumental and came together in an effortless fashion”.

Novelist is a Mercury Award nominated MC and producer hailing from Lewisham, South London. After developing his skills as a lyricist on pirate radio, Novelist went on to play a key role in the resurgence of Grime as a teenager. Nov has since evolved into a genre-bending artist who can no longer be defined by any individual scene. He was nominated for Best Grime Act at the MOBOs in 2014, and picked up a Mercury Prize nomination 4 years later. As well as continuing to release his own music under the Novelist moniker, he has produced for the likes of ASAP Rocky, Skepta, and Dean Blunt.
