David Stevenson - Biography

David is a singer songwriter from Atherstone in North Warwickshire who sings, plays guitar and piano and produces his own original music.

Influenced by a wide cross section of music, David’s soulful and inventive guitar playing and voice reference R&B, blues and soul music styles as well as the best of British popular music.

He has been writing and recording original music since his teenage years.

One of his first compositions Love Explosion written at the age of 13 in his high school lunch break with best friend and vocalist Steven Webster was recorded and independently released by Catch 23 who later signed to Polydor and sold 2,000 copies.

At the tender age of 14, David joined 10 piece Mod influenced indie soul band The Dream Factory 
who had an independent chart hit with the double A side single Wine and Roses/ Fashion Toys.  The Dream Factory were signed to independent record label Inferno.   

David works best when collaborating with other song writers and has co-written and recorded original music with acclaimed female vocalists Susanna Westwood, Jessica Louise Field and most recently with Bethany Dyson as well as Catch 23 lead singer Steven Webster.

David’s current release with Bethany Dyson Just You and Me features a series of acclaimed session musicians including Steve White, Yolanda Charles, Bryan Corbett, Joel White, Genevieve Sylva and David playing electric and acoustic guitars.

With the reformed Dream Factory he is gearing up to release 6 tracks over the course of the next 6 months including a track he wrote when he was 15 with lead singer Tim Goode called Wasted Time and several new tracks co-written with Mark Mortimer and Tim Goode.  These tracks showcase David’s guitar work and vocals and also feature outstanding drummer Steve White, The Style Council and Paul Weller,  Tim Smart, Trombonist with The Specials and Bryan Corbett on Trumpet and Flugelhorn currently touring with The Brand New Heavies.  

David is also busy working to release a three track EP of solo music in the first quarter of 2020 under the title David Stevenson and The Restless Souls.  

Playing live David has performed extensively at a number of legendary music venues including  Ronnie Scott’s in London and Birmingham, the 100 Club, London, The Cavern Club, Liverpool, The Empire, Coventry and The Lexington, London.
