We were sitting around the Bon Fire with some mates trying to think of songs we could sing together. after listening to the Alex and Sierra Cover off Lauren's Phone we decided to give this one a try. It was a special night indeed.

Kimberly's tasteful harmonies bring a new, sultry dimension to the music that I could never achieve on my own. I'm always telling her to smoke more because I love how the "Jazzy tones" of her voice sound when she does. We seem to compliment each other when we sing so we just had to give this song a try. A stripped down, live acoustic cover of Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Callait. One microphone, one take. 

Lucky Ft. Kimberly Wakaberry (Live)

This is an original song which took me about 3 years to finish. Ive had the first verse and chorus repeating in my head ever since the day I wrote it. I don't like writing about things that I don't understand or that I have not experienced in some way, which is why I could not finish it at the time.

A few weeks ago the inspiration and words I needed just found their way into the song like they had been there all along. This song is a window into a very personal part of my life that I'd like to share with you. I'm sure everybody can relate and take something from this...

Sparks

I started producing this song as a college project for recording vocals, but somewhere along the line I actually liked it and it became more than just a college project. This is not the final mix yet, it still needs some work but this is where its at currently :-) Im still recording and editing the vocals so il upload that version when its done.

Our little secret (without vocals)

Myself and Jarrid Walker (an absolute legend in producing house music) started this track about 6 weeks ago, still trying to crack the commercial dance/club sound. Its pretty chilled in the beginning but gets abit raunchy in the 2nd chorus haha. Plan on sampling the vocals from a Florence and the Machine song into the verses...

Angel - David Stride Cover (live)

Early in 2012, this is the first song i actually finished writing (some of you would know how i never finish my songs) I only recorded this one around August last year at college as a live demo/guide track. I still want to polish it up and maybe add a few instruments/verses. This is the raw acoustic version without any bells and whistles :-)  

After she left (live)

This song has been based upon the news clips i could find that were released on the 14th of February this year. It was originally inspired by the Oscar Pistorius story, but i did more research and found other news that was overshadowed by Oscar's story that day. Two of the major stories on this same day were the "One Billion Rising" global campaign against women abuse, and the "Teenage killing" in Bahrain.

I've used the audio clips of the news reports on the 14th of February, within the song to help put my lyrical approach in context.

Songwriting has played a very important role in my time here. Its probably the only constant thing about me. I’m always observing the world, people and myself from a distance, but when I write songs about the things that capture my attention, I feel connected to everything and everyone again. 
Its so easy to lose touch with our childlike selves and the little things that really matter, while were caught up in the daily grind of life. I’ve always used to music to combat that feeling, and to bring me back to the moment. Its times like that when i pick up my guitar and begin writing, that new parts of myself and of those around me are revealed to me, as if they were there all along waiting to be discovered.
I hope my songs will bring you that same experience and that you will feel them as intimately as i do.
