This is the first section of the eight-channel surround installation component of 'The Joy of Loss'.

This track is mixed down to a stereo format.

The installation uses infrasonic registers at times and, as such will have moments of inaudibility.  In the space of the installation, these waves will be felt rather than heard.
At other points, beating from contiguous infrasonic sines result due to the stereo mix.These would not be apparent in the space, as waves will travel through the air discretely through dedicated speakers, not mixed down into composite waves emanating from the same speaker source (as occurs in the stereo mix). This will sometimes present as noise in the mix...

The track is best listened to through dedicated speakers or headphones.Computer/laptop speakers probably just won't cut it...

Cicada Dusk was commissioned by Symphony Australia, and performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

These excerpts are taken from the MSO performance at the CUB Malthouse Theatre as part of the Metropolis series. The conductor is Marcus Stenz.
