Recorded in 1991 (I think). This original version was unreleased but a remake appeared on Screen Ceremonies in 1995. The truth is I prefer this rough original - the remake sounds fussy and overworked.

Out of Your Mind (Thunderbolt mix)

"Iron Perm" was a solo track for guitar, Rush Pep Box, Balinese angklung, Burmese gong and prototype Mutator I recorded in 1995. It was released the same year on Statics, a compilation album put together by Ryoji Ikeda for his CCI label in Japan. 
The title comes from my first visit to Japan, passing a barbershop in Kobe and seeing a sign in the window advertising a product or process called Iron Perm. The photograph of a menu advertising Sheet Iron Inside Type Beef was taken in Beijing.

This was a studio recording made by the BBC for their Radio Three Jazz Workshop series (introduced by Ian Carr) but the original tape was either lost or erased by the BBC. This version has been digitized from a private mono cassette recording taken from the radio broadcast. Hence the distortion in parts and general loss of fidelity.

Improvised Music & Sound Works, alongside pieces by Antonio Russolo and Ian Breakwell with Ian McQueen. This digitized edit was transferred from the cassette rather than a master so distortion and loss of fidelity is inevitable.
