Disco Tech - Don't U Wanna Be A Star Mix (New Years home-party mix)

STARRING KERMIT LEVERIDGE, EVM128 & THE REYNOLDS
FEATURING BB. JAMES (LEAD VOCAL 'GIVE IT AWAY')

Uplifting, life-affirming, and perfectly timed for the summer months - cobbled together, Heath Robinson stylee, more by serendipity than design, into a coherent whole by DJ / Producer Greg Wilson. Most of the tracks featured are by Blind Arcade (Kermit Leveridge & EVM128), either existing demos or works in progress, but the mixtape is also peppered with half-a-dozen GW edits, lyrically laced to bubble the Super Weird stew – the constant presence, and main ingredient, being Kermit, for it's his inspirational tale of faith and redemption at the very core of this morphogenetic mixtape. Following on from the Ruthless Rap Assassins and Black Grape, we believe that this is his greatest musical odyssey, drawing from the deep wells of his own mythos and logos. There were 3 frontmen in the Rap Assassins, 2 in Black Grape, but now, for the first time, Kermit steps to the fore – no longer to be described by such a limited term as 'rapper', but as a sabre-skilled vocal chameleon, his shades and depths ranging from wise old soul to lovestruck adolescent, invoking his many I's as a cast of compelling characters, both comic book and close–up personal, whilst, in trickster tradition, keeping us on our toes, not knowing what to expect next.

Blind Arcade Meets Super Weird Substance In The Morphogenetic Field (Greg Wilson Mixtape)

The 5th edition of Introducing features New York native Henry Maldonado aka Son Of Sound.  This mix is a masterclass in music selection and will have you dancing in no time. 

As part of the House 2 House trio on Strictly Rhythm, Maldonado and crew would fire out a relentless assault of New York style sampled and deep house tracks coveted by New York mainstays Little Louie Vega, Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Tony Humphries, Roger Sanchez, Timmy Regisford to name but a few. 

Today Henry produces and DJs as Son Of Sound and continues to push the limits of the underground by taking his knowledge of the past, combining it with a deep love for the city he grew up in and a penchant for quality underground club culture. 

Henry’s debut on Local Talk  "True Indeed EP" is on it's way and includes a killer remix from none other than Cuthead of Uncanny Valley fame.

Introducing 005 : Son Of Sound

We're now onto number four of our mix series, how time has flown ey. For our fourth we welcome the behind popular party throwers Queen & Disco; Alan Mooney Edits

Queen & Disco started out as a way for friends to share tracks and views about music. The main driving force behind it all was the fact that ‘genre’ didn’t matter, so long as what was being played was something you could get into, may it be lyrically or through a straight up groove.

They started throwing parties in May 2013 and really haven’t looked back since. They’ve had some top acts perform for them including Horse Meat Disco, Get Down Edits, Late Nite Tuff Guy, LTJ Xperience, Craig Smith, Dicky Trisco, Rahaan, Marcel Vogel and more. The music though is just one part of it, for the thing to work, everything has to come together. Venue, sound, music, and most importantly of all, the crowd.

Welcome to this special 3 1/2 hour episode of some of my favorite tracks from last year's shows. This is not a 'best of' or tracks that necessarily came out in 2015 but they are all tracks that I played during the past year on the different programs. These are my favorites from those shows. Spread over 52 shows from 2015 there was over 500 tracks. It was very hard to narrow that down but I was able to pick just under 100 tracks and here are the first 40.

Slap & Tickle Podcast - Episode 030 - Greg Wilson

Born and raised in a small town in Sweden, Niklas Mellilä aka Disco Tech moved to Stockholm aged 12 and has been collecting records for nearly two decades since. As a DJ he has been lighting up dance-floors in Scandinavia and beyond all the way back to his days as a Scratch Battle DJ at the 2008 DMC World Championships. His focus has turned to laying down original funk and disco, chopping and editing classic and rare tunes, as well as building his increasingly diverse and wonderful record collection. He's gained a reputation as a fine selector and talented DJ. When I spoke with Niklas he was keen to produce a mixtape for us with a strong focus on tracks with a strong funk and disco influence, sourcing the selections from all corners of the world - and he’s done exactly that.

From start to finish Métron Musik Mixtape - 027 turns the groove level up to eleven, with infusions of Afro-beat, European pop, Caribbean dub, Psychedelic rock, and Latin rythmns it’s a delightfully exotic feast of classic and rare funk & disco from around the globe. 

Having started his own well respected label, DiscoDat Records, back in 2012 Niklas will be releasing his 4th Edits LP in the coming months. Be sure to follow his work on facebook and check out his edits and mixes on Soundcloud.

emerging from a broken world to find a hole they can fill,
cometh the moment; cometh the Mandrill.

This greed and gore emporium is not how life was meant to be,
with franchises and fads reheated from a previous century,
and nothing new, a neutered future on the retro record deck,
that’s stuck and endlessly repeating in a firebombed discotheque.

What you need is a dictatorial baboon in makeup.

Overstated, aggravated and horrifically mutated,
here to see that you’re berated. What’s the last thing you created?
All those logos on your raiment, brand-name badges of enslavement,
drip-fed passive entertainment. Was this your intended statement?

Alan Moore's Mandrill Meets Super Weird Substance At The Arts Lab Apocalypse (Greg Wilson Mixtape)

We are introducing one od Dalmatia's finest sons, DJ OZ from the infamous "Radio Esplendor crew". 
With almost 20 years of experience on the dancefloors and as a music journalist this golden heart gangster and his mates Marko Friedl and Nile decided to form "Radio Esplendor" after an an epiphanic experience during a festival on the shores of Tisno.
The crew curates a radio show on KLFM and organises parties focusing on disco and house in their hometown Split.
