Absolute banger it gets better the more i listen to it 


As ever with the Hell Yeah crew, there is an interesting back-story to the label’s next release, the ambitiously titled Coast to Coast EP. Firstly, the title refers to the fact that Justin VanDerVolgen hails from the east and Doc Martin the west coast of America, but that’s not all…

The label boss first heard Alexander Robotnick’s Undicidisco*track in a set by Golf Channel associate *Justin Vandervolgen. He went to ask what it was and turns out the track had only been released digitally. Keen to give it the full release it deserved on wax, he fully licensed it and got a remix from the man who first played it, as presented here. So far it’s done well, with Running Back boss Gerd Janson playing it recently at P-Bar – of, course it went down a storm... and Beats In Space's Tim Sweeney shouting "This is the Jam"... wow

The track itself is seven minutes of playfully droning bass synths and boom-bap percussion. It’s alive with darting synth tweaks and twitches and races through outer space at an inviting pace, radiating good time vibes from start to finish.

It’s a similar story with the flip – Hell Yeah’s Marco heard one of his (and dance music in general) heroes, Doc Martin, playing the Florian Meindl's bass driven original mix and immediately wanted to give it a full release, but not before asking Doc for a remix.

That remix is released here and is a heavyweight, shuffling bit of house funk with a tight, knotted and tumbling bass refrain propping up soaring diva vocals and grainy, infectious claps. It’s a wavy and hugely inviting groove that has plenty of lip-curling attitude to it.

A fine release with a great backstory that comes complete with great vinyl artwork designed by Andrea Amaducci, this Coast to Coast EP is yet another fine weapon in the Hell Yeah cannon.

The latest single taken from No Fantasy Required, “Blondes Have More Fun,” exemplifies Tiga’s knack for deceptively deep songwriting and lush production. It is accompanied by a trio of remixes from contemporary electronica royalty: prolific Swedish producer on-the-rise Jonas Rathsman, international house and techno breakout, The Black Madonna and finally Running Back boss Gerd Janson, 

The Gerd Janson “Go Acid Dub” will get it’s own release alongside inspired “Elevation” and “Alternate” versions of the title track by Tiga himself. Tiga said of the Janson mix, "my best friend Gerd delivers a monster acid house party jam. pony tail slammer.”. Janson modestly replied, “(I’m) Flattered to be asked by the one only Tiga to lay hands on him and his voice, while being unable to supersede his original, the remix efforts resulted in an "acid dub" that tries to toughen things up. Thank you for listening”

GO ON: seldom do two simple two-letter words have so much impact when put together. Every connotation compounded: It’s encouraging, it’s spurring, it puts people first, it’s a call to action, it’s positive, it’s welcoming… It’s the title for Dalfie’s latest EP on Pets. 
A long-time friend of Catz ‘n Dogz and a regular on their label’s roster, once again the Scottish producer delivers some serious club goods. Two tracks for the two-word, two-letter high impact message, both of them cut straight to the chase. 
‘FJ’ is all about that bounce. Springy, dark and full of heavy energy, we have no idea was ‘FJ’ stands for but we’re going to assume it’s Freaking Juicy as this bassline is something else. Coupled with gradually built up breakbeat momentum, this doesn’t so much as slap but completely knocks your head off. 
‘R Rated’ continues the late-night naughtiness. Rolling with a touch of mid 90s house energy, a writhing bassline and liberal use of classic rave stabs; just like Dalfie’s previous Pets bombs it’s another precision club demolisher. Already tried and tested by Catz N Dogz and Dalfie himself, these are now yours for the taking. GO ON… What are you waiting for?
